I'm seriously debating weather I should purchase these, but what's the difference between the "ciaos" as oppose to the other copic marker? Do they still have a double tip? For those that have them, what's the difference? thanks
They are the same as the Sketch Copics (same brush and chizzle tips, refillable, and replacement tips are available) except they are round and won't work with the Copic Airbrush system.

the tips are different between the sketch, ciao, and original copic markers with the originals having the "fine" tip and chisel points. the other two have a "brush" tip with the chisel tip. the originals will cost more than the other two types. if i'm incorrect please let me know.
I am so lucky because Colorin' Kate teaches Copic marker coloring at my LSS and I took her classes and have been using these markers for over a year now. She is the pioneer of using these on cards, imo, and you would die if you saw the samples in the store. She's been working with them for years.
Ok, all of the ciaos would be like $1,000-where are you guys finding affordable prices for sets?? And what sets to get?? I know there are sets of 24, sets of 36 and sets of 72, but even that is not all of the colors- how do you decide?? I can't dins any store around me that has any to look at- even the local art store doesn't carry them.
I'm getting mine from My Favorite Things. I have found Kim to have the best prices. She has 4 sets of 36 markers and that's what I am ordering, so it comes to 144 markers for about $460 I think...to early to do the math in my head.
woo hoo- go for it! I was just at Jeanne S's site where she lists the marker numbers for SU colors... I am thinking about just ordering them as indivuals from Dick Blick or somewhere like that- I went out shoping and ended up with some watercolor pencils that semi-matched the new In colors.
Do you think Coloring Kate would ever have a class in the middle of the country and we could all sign up and fly in for it???????????? I would so be there!!!! Of course, I guess I could go to Texas...Is that where she is???
spoke with Kathy via email about a month ago and she said Copic should be coming out soon with a tutorial and or DVD for cardmakers on how to use the markers!!! That would be great!!

Laura, she's at Creative Pals, in Brookfield. Remember when you came up here last year, & I gave you directions ~~ I think the store was real close to where you were staying. Come on up for a class!!! You'll love Kathy & you'll love her class!!!
OK. I have read through the thread and it keeps going back and forth between Ciao's and Sketch's. Did we decide that the sketch's are better than the Ciao's? I am thinking of ordering today. TIA

I have the Sketch and love them. But there are also people that have the smaller Ciao's and love them. It's probably personal preference and how deep your pocketbook is....the Sketch cost more. But I also don't need ALL 310 colors that the Sketch offers.I can't imagine why I would ever need more than 36 .They are basically the same..Ciao's are smaller and round barrel and have a few less colors. They also won't fit with the airbrush system, which I don't think most card makers would have a use for anyway. They have a website at www.copicmarker.com you might find some answers to your questions there.

Thanks for the info! I just ordered the basic set of 12 Sketch from www.carpediemstore.com for $35.70. I figure if I like them I can always add on.

I have a Dick Blick that's local and I've been buying some of the Sketch markers individually right now. They only sell the Ciaos in packs and I don't know if I *need* those colors. I also know that I'll probably never use the airbrush system.
