Had the same problem. VV looks great with silver embossing on it. :-) Wedding card . . . ??

I discovered that it was the VV ink that was wonky....so I dug through my ink pad stash and discovered a violet ink from another company (and it must be 10 years old, LOL, and still good!). The new/old violet ink is LOVELY with the paper and ribbon....so I guess I'm saying that maybe the reason it doesn't "work" for you is that you are detecting this weirdness with the ink color as opposed to the paper and ribbon...JMHG (just my humble guess!;) )

For a monochromatic color scheme, I like Vintage Violet with Almost Amethyst. I agree with Amy that silver also goes well with the Violet.

Here's a simple card that brings those opinions to life:
amethyst & violet birthday

I love Vintage Violet with all of the other In Colors. Here is an example of how I mixed them together:

I second the recommendation for VV and Almost Amethyst. Here is a link to a card I made with that color combo (and mellow moss and silver too).

(my scanner really doesn't like purples, so if it looks a little off, that's why)

Used the vintage violet with buckaroo blue and silver,...loved it!!

I like it with Almost Amethyst and Cool Caribbean--I didn't take a pic before I sent the card :-( and also with More Mustard and Rose Red--I used my ink pad and blender pen to color in and it matched the paper but when I stamp with it, it does look much darker.

I love Vintage Violet with Bashful Blue. I won't cry too hard when it goes but would love to see it stay if SU changes their mind.

My VV ink pad almost looks black with just a tint of purple. I was pretty bummed about it and haven't used it since the day I opened it! The paper is so beautiful, I wish the ink pad would actually match it!

Have you tried stamping off first. I have found that my eggplant ink is very dark and I usually stamp off first to get the right color. Also VV looks great with mellow moss and even better with sage shadow. I did a Christmas card in VV, sage and silver emboss. No picture of course, but it was so pretty.

I used VV for my Christmas cards this year. Actually cased the whole color scheme from a card in the 06/07 catty. Here's the link to the page http://catalogs.shoplocal.com/stampi...toreid=1038724
the colors are Almost Amethyst, Garden Green, Vintage Violet, and Whisper White.

Vintage Violet, More Mustard, Red Red
