Default Which pencils do you recommend?

I love color and with a birthday coming up, I want to get a set of pencils with a lot of colors. I'm trying to decide between Prismacolor's Water Resistant set, Faber Castel's water resistant set, and Albrech Durer's Watercolor Pencils. All come in the 120 pencils sets which I would buy.

Does a blending pen work with the water resistant pencils or must mineral spirits be used? What kind of paper works best with them?

Thank you!

If you mean regular colored pencils when you say 'water resistant' then I would definite go with Prisma. They have a super wax content and their colors are great. You can get sets off ebay for about $50 for the 120 set. I also just got the 12 pack of new colors for about $14 including postage. The new colors replace the neon colors in the old 120 set. A blending pencil works but the mineral spirits are way better for stamp work. You'll need stumps for that technique as well. SU white works great (as many others have said).

All three that you mentioned are high-quality, artist-grade pencils. It depends whether you want to watercolor or not. Of the two regular style pencils, the Prismacolors are a bit waxier, and can be difficult to sharpen. The Faber Castels are a bit firmer, but come in the most amazing shades. I have lots of all three of the brands you mention, and wouldn't part with any of them. Hmmmm. Not helpful, is it?

Thank you for your responses. All three look like must haves. While I have my share of stamps, I personally get more use from my many colors than I do from my many stamps.

I apologize for not being more specific. DH needed me to do something "right now" while I was working on the post and I accidently hit the submit button.

Have a great fourth and thanks again for your responses.

How come the pure color pencils by SU doesn't seem to be a set that anyone recommends? I thought they were pure pigment colored pencils supposed to be rich like Prismacolor. Not so much?
