Paper trimmers
Hi, can someone tell me there favorite paper trimmers. I have the old blue fiskars but was thinking of getting a rotary. I was going to get the MM one then I heard that it didn't cut strait. Then I read about the fiskars desk one, I'm not sure if this was the grey full size one or the orange one.
Help is there a cutter our there that actually cuts straight?
Michelle

I love both my tonic cutters. I have the 12 inch and the 6 inch and they are both great. I have no problem cutting straight and the 12 inch has a removable arm so that it only takes up about 6 inches on my desk, which is great when I'm not using 12 x 12 inch paper. They are expensive but worth every penny.

I've had the MM precision trimmer for over a year and I LOVE it!!
One possible reason people aren't getting straight cuts is you can't push the paper up to the top of the trimmer (like you might with the purple Fiskars). You have to use the grid lines because when you unfold the trimmer to 12x12 the two pieces at the top are slightly off and pushing the paper against that WILL cause an uneven cut.
I can't say enough great things about this one. The blade is still as sharp as day one and I use this sucker all the time!
My cuts are dead on each and every time and no replacing blades!!!!

I also have the fiskars table top cutter. The gray one. I love it. The only thing I had to learn to do was turn the black cutting strip over as after awhile it gets worn out and you will get a lip edge when cutting. There are 4 sides to this so it lasts a long time. I am only on my second side.

Another vote for the Tonic cutter! I have the 12" one, and love it. You can get one at JoAnn's.com with a 50% online coupon. They also have the one with the 6" base, which is on my wishlist...

I'm interested to find out how people like their purple cows trimmers, especially the one with the swappable cutting wheels that store in the base of the unit.
I personally have the triple track fiskars (purple) that I think is in the SU Catty and also the fiskars guillotine cutter. They are fine, nothing to highly praise. I don't use the guillotine much right now because I need to clear a more permanent space for it. So I use the triple track a lot but it is just OK. My mom got me one of those craft lite cutters for Christmas but I haven't had a chance to test it out yet.

The MM Precision Cutter KICKS BUTT. It is self sharpening and cuts like a dream. Cuts straight and the edges look like the paper was never cut. KWIM? I got it because I saw that Nichole Heady loved hers and figured...she is pretty picky. She was right. It is Great! I used a coupon and got it for $20. I also own a Cutterpede and Fiskars and like both of them too, they are more portable. I use different cutters depending on how big of a project I am working on.
Good luck!

Two thumbs up for the MM Precision Trimmer. I got one a few months ago and it rocks! I've been stamping for years and I've been through several different trimmers. I finally found one that I really love.

WHere are you ladies buying your MM Precision Cutter? Do they have it at Michaels or JoAnns?

I have never even heard of the other cutters! I have the creative memories cutters and I love them. I have the 12 inch one and the small 6inch ( i think that is the size), and the wavy cutter. I use the small one for small paper and pics. I also love their oval, circle and shapes that you use a blade and mat with. I have had all of these for at least 4 years, and have just recently replaced the blade on the 12 inch straight cutter.

Yes Michaels sells them. My only complaint on the MM trimmer is that the grid lines start to rub off. It took me a while to figure out why I was getting smudge marks on my paper. Then I looked closely and noticed that the grid lines are rubbing off. I have heard others are having the same problem but contacted the company. I am going to call to see if they will replace mine. I don't know if the new ones have rectified the problem (I have had mine for over a year). It might be an idea to look at spraying some sealant over the grid lines to protect it.

I had this problem and e-mailed the company and they responded that some of the very first ones had not been properly sealed. They are sending me a new one. I found them to be very quick with follow-up. Good Luck,
Susan

Thanks for the input Susan. I have taken pictures and will contact them on Monday. As mentioned I have had it for over a year and the receipt is long gone. I am in Canada and hope they will be still willing to replace it. Even with this problem, I wouldn't hesitate in buying another one (especially if the problem has been fixed).

I highly doubt they will require a receipt, I had problems with my Fiskars trimmer and they actually replaced it twice for me with a different version (the first replacement was for the same product and it had the same problem as my original one). I didn't need a receipt for it so I doubt MM will need one.

I have the Fiskar's portable trimmer (orange) and I like it better than my old gray one. I can see the numbers on the pull out ruler better. However, I can't find a scoring blade to go with it. It didn't come with one and I went to 2 stores (AC Moore and Joann's) and neither had one. I ended up buying one that will fit the gray cutter. Now I wish I had gotten the Fiskar's rotary cutter. Much more versatile. Does anyone know if there even is a scoring blade for this cutter?

I really don't like my purple cow cutter. I love the ingento cutter. The kids at school haven't damaged it in three years. It cuts tons every day because I teach interior design.

I LOVE my purple cow trimmer. It has the guillotine on one side and the rotary on the other. I get great straight cuts on it. I used to have a Fiskars but always had trouble. Now I am purple all the way! Oh, and since it has the two I'll usually use the guillotine to cut and then have a wavy blade or scoring blade in the rotary side.
