I have the Bic Markits, Sharpies and a few Copics.
I found a wonderful deal today at Dollar Tree in the school supplies section. They have a set of 7 colors, plus black in a pack of Permanent Markers.
They color as well as the Bics, and the colors are nice to have. If nothing else, they will be handy when my Bics dry out. Here is a scan I made of the colors:

If you have a Cricut, there's a gal on the Cricut message boards who has a talented hubby who can make custom pen holders for the Cricut. He's made one to hold the gel pens from Staples ($6 for 12 pens). The price is $25 for the holder. It's made from metal and looks very professional; not some jury-rigged thing at all.
She's checking the interest level for a holder to hold the Sharpie minis. I'm in for this! If you are, too, please go post there so she knows people are interested. I don't know how many she needs to make it worth her DH's while, but the more interest we show, the better luck we'll have getting a holder for the Sharpies.
Can someone explain how sharpies and markits compare to copics? How would u use the sharpies or markits to color an image?? I'm new to this... but I thought Copics were a "unique breed". Thanks so much!

Anna, you asked a "big question" about the Copics. If you do a search you will find numerous threads about Copics, mostly very positive. People do love them because of how well they color and the fact that they come in hundreds of shades.
Copics are alcohol based markers, as opposed to waterbased like the SU markers, or the Marvy markers you can get at Michaels.
The Bics and Sharpies are also alcohol based, and I think they color well, especially for the price.
I can't justify spending $300 - $600 for a set of Copic markers to color with. That is why I use the colored Bic Markits (set of 36 on sale from Target) and the colored Sharpies (set of 24 from Sams.) I think I paid about $12 each for those sets.
The Bics and Sharpies are pretty intense, bright colors. I did use a coupon and got a few pale color Copics one at a time from Hobby Lobby to fill in my Bic/Sharpie sets. But even with a coupon Copics were over $4 each. Ouch!

I love my Bic Mark its and after reading this thread I bought my first pack of sharpies for 3 bucks at Walmart...has 5 different colors, pumpkin, clover, rose, violet, rain shower. I didn't even know sharpies came in those colors and they are different than the colors of my bics..woo hoo.

I bought these, too, in addition to the 36 set of Sharpies and the Bics that I have. I loved that they were different than the others, too!
Staples has sharpies individually and you can make your own set. They had about 5different purples. Office max has the bic the same way. I saw them last week so I don't remember the price for sure but they were around a dollar.

Where did you find the 36 pack of sharpies? Does it have different colors in it than the bics or are they pretty similar?
I bought the Sharpies at AC Moore with a 50% off coupon so I think I paid around $8 or so for it. Although now I saw that they have a bigger pack that I'd like but between the Bics and Sharpies, I'm set for now.
The Bics & Sharpies are pretty similar in color but I find the Bics blend better because they don't dry as quick and they tend to be a little more "juicy" than the Sharpies. I usually just mix and match according to my mood and project.
The Bics I bought at Walmart when they were on sale for $10. I think they're only $12 now (compared to Target where they're $1.

Thanks for the info...I got my bics at WalMart too for $10 I don't have an AC Moore in my area. I'm lucky I have a Michael's and Joanns ;)
I got one set of Sharpies at WAlmart that were different colors than I had in the others. I"ll have to check out dollar tree cause that is a really good price.
