Palette Noir turned clear stamp black!
I posted this on the general forum as well.
I virtually always use my Memento for black, but I was stamping with some solid rubber stamps and was not getting a good image so pulled out my Palette Noir, which worked much better. Then I wanted to add another image so I pulled out a small clear stamp and used it with the Palette Noir. The ink would not come off the clear stamp. I used Stampin Mist and my scrubber, but it is still solid black. I am used to clears getting tinted by certain colors of dye ink, notably reds, but this is more than a tinting. I'm wondering if I should not use hybrid ink with my clears (it was a good quality photopolymer stamp) or if I am simply using the wrong cleaner. Advice and suggestions? |
I have a couple of cleaners that I use...
One...Simple Green. Available in cleaning supplies or in automotive or hardware depts of grocery store or Walmart. A concentrate that can be mixed in many dilutions. Try it full strength or 1:1 with water. Two...Suave coconut shampoo. Costs about a buck. With either one, let the cleaner sit a few minutes and use a toothbrush. I have some clear stamps that are permanently stained black but I did diminish the intensity of the black a bit with these two cleaners. |
Is this the way it will go if I use any color of hybrid ink on clears? It will stain much worse than dye ink? Is that a reason not to use hybrid ink on clears?

Unfortunately, clears will stain more easily than rubber, even the good quality clears. I actually don't mind too much because easier for me to see ;)

My favorite is the black stazon. If it don't clean the stamp right away I can still get the ink completely off...hours later and even days later. I have stazon cleaner but just use stampinup mist and that seems to work just fine. So careful about what black I use...I use stampinup craft black and clean it right away on a paper towel and then the scrubber...otherwise only stazon.

Not sure it it's true, but I was always told not to use Staz-On cleaner on clear stamps because it can break down the acrylic or photopolymer. No sure though.
