I have had my ATG gun for over six months and I have struggled with the same problem ever since it was new. The adhesive paper tape keeps slipping partway off the roll, so I am continually opening it up and trying to slide the tape back onto the roller. When I mentioned it to a clerk at Archivers, she said she'd been having the same problem, but hers just started doing this. Has anyone else had this happen? Any solution?
Thanks!
I've had that happen on occasion, too. I found I had a few rolls of tape in a batch I'd bought that just didn't seem to be wound very tightly. It seemed when I opened the gun, the tape was kind of coming up around the edges in a "cone" fashion. I just kept pushing it back down flat until I got to the end of the roll. So, it could be your tape, and not your tape gun.

The tape comes that comes with the Pink ATG is horrendous and apparently has a lot of problems. I hated my gun when I first got it. I bought a new package of ATG tape and it's fine. I had nothing but problems with the tape that came with the gun. The new tape I bought was the ATG tape sold at Michaels.
Thanks for the replies. Yes, it's a tape problem because the tape does come up in a cone shape. I have the pink gun, and I'm using the tape that came in the gun. I'm on my second roll which came with the gun. Then I bought a refill at Michael's, so I hope that will be better. I'll just have to keep pushing it down until I use this roll. Thanks again!
exactly - my pink one did the same... and it fix itself when I changed the tape. I always buy my refills at Michaels and the next tape worked just fine. Must be a bad batch...
I had this problem too, but read that if you can put a center from an empty roll of tape on top of your full roll. It really helps. It won't click in, but will stay once you close the gun.
What a wonderful, simple solution when the tape goes "wonky." So much better to use the shim than to have to keep opening the gun and pushing the tape back down flat. Thanks.

I'm just getting used to using an ATG since switching from mono adhesive. I bet the shim and maybe new tape rolls will also fix my problem. My tape keeps creeping to the very edge of the rubber rollers. I'm terrified that it's going to tear or walk right off the roller and I'll ruin a roll of tape!

Glad I could pass on some help. When I saw it I thought what a great idea!
