Default Wheel Ink Cartridge

I am looking for the ink cartridge that you use with the wheels. I know Stampin Up sells them, but not in the color that I am looking for. I need the regular and jumbo cartridges. Thanks!

Are you using the wheels for cards or for large scrap-pages?

I ask because if you are using them for cards, you can just use any ink pad and roll the wheel across it a few times to ink it up...and you will get one nice crisp revolution print.

I actually quit buying wheel cartridges for this reason.

If there is a color you really want, and you use the wheels for more than one revolution, you can buy empty cartridges from SU and use a re-inker to fill them with whatever color you like.

Thanks for responding. I will be using them for both. I will try the wheel with the ink pad and see how it works. I guess my concern is getting good coverage. I did not know that SU sold the empty cartridge. Thanks again!

I like my wheel cartridges. I bought my fav colors - especially the christmas colors and use them all the time. You can reink them with reinkers and its great. The least common colors I use the ink pad, however only for card size....I can't use a 12 X 12 scrapbook page with only using the ink pad....so it depends on what you are using it for. I also put versamark in a empty SU cartridge so I can emboss or watermark with a wheel.

I unmounted all my wheels and I LOVE using them now. I can use any stamp pad I want and I always get great coverage, and I can get the image straight, too. It's easy to get the images right next to each other, IMO.

Unmounting totally solved the inking issue for me. You can try it and, if it doesn't suit you, just glue the rubber back onto the wheel.

May I ask what you used to mount the rubber to and where did you find it? Also, how do you store yours? Thanks

I'm so sorry I didn't get back to you! I missed then update email.

I mount the rubber on EZ Mount. It can be found online using that name in the search, so just look for the best price. Don't forget to calculate shipping when comparing prices. Some places offer a great price for the product, but then charge an arm and a leg for shipping.

There are some wonderful video tutorials for putting rubber onto EZ Mount. Google "youtube ez mount" and/or "youtube ez mount hot knife" (without the quotes) to get some results. I recommend getting a hot knife for this job; it'll make it so much easier.

mounting with scissors (also includes tips for using double-stick tape): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ROM-hOaapM

using a hot knife: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UG7ln...rom=PL&index=5

This video shows the stamper keeping the paper backing, so she has to trim it. I don't use the paper backing to store my stamps , so I don't have to trim the paper. I just put the cling side right on the storage panel.

This video bugs me a bit because her child is wandering around while she's using the hot knife!

I store my unmounted stamps on thin plastic storage panels meant just for this purpose. They're called Stamp N' Stor Lightweight Storage Panels and they fit into a regular 3-ring binder. They also fit into page protectors, so I slip the panel into a page protector and then into a binder. The cling side of the EZ Mount sticks right to the panel, but if a stamp should come off, it'll at least stay close (in the page protector) until I put it back in place.

There are other cling foam products for mounting rubber stamps. Creative Cling Foam is another brand, and Google will undoubtedly turn up more brands to check out.
