Ok...I need some help. I am interested in purchasing a reasonably priced paper cutter to cut A LOT of cardstock.
Here is my history:
I have the original fiskars - it doesn't cut straight
I have the triple track fiskars - I go through a 2 pak of blades in 2 hours
I have a Carl - this is ok, although for smaller cuts (like 1/2" x 1") it's impossible b/c of the thick ruler that I can't lift up
I have a provocraft cutter - (green/pink) and the blades dull too quickly just like the triple track
I have a guillotine cutter and the top part where you line the paper up is not straight and so you can wiggle the paper if your cutting less than 2 inches or so and so you end up cutting crooked.
I bought the fiskars rotary and I hated, no .... I despised it! The ruler kept sticking and it was impossible to get it out.
So what I'm looking for is something that can cut small pieces (as well as 12x12) and is easy to use, blades last through 1 stamp camp at least.
Been there. I finally broke down and ordered a genesis paper trimmer. Over $200 and takes over 9 months to get. It cuts perfectly, it cuts vellum, it cuts 1/16th of an inch little shaves off tissue paper, it is a dream. However, it will only cut 1 - 2 sheets at a time. The problem with most paper cutters is that they use a metal blade to cut up against a plastic piece underneath the paper. Plastic gives and results in a poor quality cut. Genesis is metal against metal. Just something to consider.

I also have the Genesis and is money well spent. I cut LOTS of paper and have not yet had to replace my blade. Like you, I probably spent the price of the Genesis on other paper cutters in total. I think I have owned every one that has been made by anybody. Treat yourself. You will not be sorry you did.
I agree with the previous posters. I, too, had every paper cutter known to man and bought a genesis in 2000. Still havent changed the blade!! It is a huge chunk of money but well worth it! Good luck in your search.
