Newbie Question

Hello. This is my first post. I have been creating cards for only a short time and I am interested in getting something to do the embossing of cards (Dry embossing I think it's called). What is the best thing to use? I see all these nice patterns on cards and don't have a clue what I should get. I already own a Cricut machine for die-cuts (I was previously a scrapbooker) but don't have anything for embossing. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much!

It sounds like you need a Cuttlebug, and some of their wonderful embossing folders.

The Cuttlebug is not too expensive, and is manually operated. No computer connection or plug needed.

You can find the Bug on sale lots of places, or get it with a coupon at Hobby Lobby, Michaels, or Joanns.

Here is a great gallery to look at what you can do with the Cuttlebug and the embossing folders:

you will LOVE the cuttlebug!

DON'T pay full price tho... get it on sale or use a coupon! then you can use the money you saved to by the EF (embossing folders).

and i agree... there are some wonderful people here at SCS! you can find the answer to most any question right here!

happy stamping!

I LOVE the Big Shot machine from SU--you can use ALL the other products in it--cuttlebug, Sizzix--etc. I still use my light table and dry emboss tools, but love love love the Big Shot. Have fun with whatever tool you decide on.

Big Shot is Better

I have a Cuttlebug and a Big Shot from SU!....I had the CB first, and it does have its advantages, like portability, but the Big Shot is really pretty portable itself and can accommodate the Bigz XL dies (which are AMAZING, especially the Stampin' Up! exclusive ones)...and don't forget you can use all the CB dies and embossing folders on the Big Shot! It's such a great product!!:D

I got the big kick from michaels with a 50%off coupon. It is very similar to the big shot, just looks a little different. It is a very sturdy machine, and has a carrying handle, so it is very portable. I love it, yo can use cuttlebug folders, nestabilities and all the sizzix products with it.

Welcome to SCS. I have the Big Kick and I love it. The A2 embossing folders from Cuttlebug are so great for card fronts. Good luck on your decision.
