Question Spring (not the season) for Behind a Diecut

Hi,

I'm looking for small springs that can be attached behind a die cut so it makes it a little "bouncy." I'm not sure if I'm explaining this correctly and I hope you all know what I mean.

I've seen them before on purchased cards, but I can't find them sold by themselves. Whenever I do a search it comes up with the season Spring.

I know I can use dimensional pop dots, but I prefer to use springs if I can find them.

Does anyone have any leads on these? Let me know if you need clarification of exactly what I'm looking for.

Thanks!

You can always make your own with wire. Just wrap the wire around a thin skewer, slide off and cut. This might be better than a traditional spring as you can direct the width and also make the end so that it is easy to adhere to the card. (clear like mud??)
You could also take apart a pen that has a spring inside

I know exactly what you're talking about. I would try Home Depot or Lowes. I'm not sure that they would have it but that's the first place I would look.

What about taking a small strip of paper, fold in half @ a 45 degree angle, and then back and forth over itself to create a paper spring? It may also give you more surface to attach to the page and the die cut.

Yeah, this is what I do, too!

You might hafta experiment a bit with the gauge of wire you use, depending on what kind of bounce you want--if it's too high a gauge, it won't hold it's shape and if it's too low a gauge, it's too heavy/stiff to bounce, etc.

If I remember correctly (haven't done one in a while), I think somewhere around 24 (???) was a good gauge?

Thanks everyone.

I'll have to experiment with making one. I probably won't be trying it out until next weekend, but I'll post here to let you know I ended up doing.

Youi can take apart a cheap retractable pen and cut apart the little spring inside to the desired length.

I bought some of these springs at a stamping convention several years ago. They were copper and called Pixie Poppers.
