Default Has anyone tried this with the Grand Dies?

I only make cards so I can't justify nor afford to buy the Grand Calibur machine just to make a few cards . However, I would like to one day make shaped cards with a Grand die set of labels.

I have been thinking about a way to use them without the Grand Calibur machine. The smaller dies would fit in my Cuttlebug. Has anyone tried taping a larger die to Cardstock and cutting around it with a craft knife? I think it would work. Craft knife cutting is much cleaner than tracing and then cutting with a scissors

If this idea would work and I find a great price ( 50% off or more ) I may buy one set of the Grand Labels to use for shaped cards. I know I don't want all of my cards to look alike so one set would be plenty

I am always scheming to stretch my money LOL

I haven't done quite what you're describing but I have used a Nestie with a craft knife to do an "out of the box" in a circle (on this card). The only difference would be that you'd be cutting through two layers of cardstock to make your card base.

Do you have some regular Nesties? If so, you could try the technique with one of those to see how you get on and decide from there.

HTH!
