I just broke my 3 or 4 yr old CB making Christmas cards! my question is do I just replace it or what is your opinion of the V2? I just use it for cards, have lots of embossing folder and nesties. Thanks for your help.
These machines are not meant to be repaired unless it's a quicky thing as screwing a handle back on.
With coupons and much cheaper prices than originally offered, it's best to just replace the machine. You've invested in the "go withs" as I call them, so it's worth it to just purchase a new machine.
Just my opinion, but I'm not offering my purse. lol
I tried to force a too thick "sandwich" through it and it popped apart at the seam on top, hubby snapped it back together but it still won't "press" on that side. So I gave him permission to take it all apart, which he did and try to fix it but no luck.
I just don't know if I should purchase a new cuttlebug or a V2 Cuttlebug or go to a different brand. But must do something soon so I can finish my Christmas cards!
I was able to repair my CB. Pop off the side that does not have the handle. I used a thin metal nail file. This will give you a great view of the gears and roller. My problem turned out to be a screw that came off and the gear that it attached. I reattached gear and screw ... CB now working like a charm!
If that doesn't work, contact Provo Craft and ask for a replacement.
Call PC customer service!! I broke the handle off my CB (dropped it taking it to a crop) I asked for just a new handle but they sent a whole new machine!! Try calling...you never know. For those of you who broke yours....I have a perfectly good one that is just missing a handle (the part your screw on) If your handle is good, I would certainly be willing to ship this one to you at no charge if you pay for shipping!
....has been built better and is more sturdy. If you are replacing, I would just buy the new one. I have to agree with some of the posts here. Wait until you can get it with a coupon or when it gets cheaper.
Plan B would be to get another original CB. Since they have come out with a new version you might be able to get the original one for cheap since they probably won't be making them anymore.
I also broke my cuttlebug. It sucked my shim paper and brown rubber mat up into the top roller. Oh yikes I thought. My husband got the side off and work on it. He was able to get both things out of the top roller. He thought we had it fixed so he put it back together. I tried it would but then it would make a loud noise when I tried to use it. He watched me use it and found the whitish plastic by the roller had a crack. The plastic had bend down and was catching my plates. He took it apart again ( which is a pain ) and took a file to that piece of plastic and sanded the piece off. So far it's working. However if it ever breaks and he isn't able to fix it I'll buy a big shot. I've used it at a stamp shop that offers card you can make and feel it's a better quality product.
I am on my 4th one...I use them A LOT. Anyway the latest one a gear and screw are floating around inside. I am getting a replacement soon. These little units are really work horses. I love mine even with an Ebosser still love my little bug. I do have a big Shot too just dont use it much.
I broke my CB with a too big sandwich cutting felt with a Memory Box die. I was just sick. I saved to buy the V2 and now find I don't like the movement of the handle. Also, you now have to buy the C(?) plate separately. I might check out the Big Shot. Big bummer.
I bought my CB maybe 15 months ago and already then the C plate wasn't included. Ugh ! I bought the C and also a additional set of B plates one just for die cutting and I have one then for embossing. I just used my Big Box % off coupons and then it wasn't that bad. Thanks for posting how different the handle is on the CG V2.

That's is why I carry mine in a Doctor's bag. This way if I drop it. The Cuttlebug will be safe.
