New Sizzix and Big Shot
Did anyone see the ad in Scrapbooks Etc magazine for Sizzix? It said coming soon...and I assume that means at CHA in Feb...and the Big Shot is now black and pink. All the Sizzix dies were black and pink and new storage boxes for the dies. The whole ad was black and pink and super cute too.
|
I saw this! I have the original Sizzix and have been thinking about the Big Shot - glad I waited!
|
This shows how observant I am...NOT. I was just cleaning up my Sizzix dies and I already have two black ones! I didn't even notice the color change was already in progress.
Also, I thought the Big Shot was being replaced by the Big Kick (I read it some where) and in the ad it was definately a Big Shot in the pink and black colors....it had the Big Shot logo on it in plain view. I can't wait to visit their booth at CHA....I love Sizzix and Ellison dies. |

I saw that ad too. Should be interesting to see what they are coming out with.
|
Last week Sizzix brought up a new website and it had the Big Shot listed under the machines available it just got a new logo. I didn't notice it being black and pink though. It may be a special promotion as didn't they bring out the big kick in pink last year for a limited time?
I too thought they were retiring all of the Ellison products but based on the new website looks like they are keeping it. One thing I did notice is that it seems to be more distributed over in the UK than here in the US. Karen |
Color me confused too. (wonder what color that is). Anyways, I thought that Ellison/Sizzix replaced the Big Shot with the Big Kick, so I was a bit surprised by that ad.
If I find out anything of interest, I'll report back. |
Last year Sizzix bought Ellison and on the Sizzix web site there was a letter to the customers saying that Ellison products would be fazed out over time and the Big Kick (made by Sizzix) was compatable with Big Shot products and all Ellison dies.
Then I kept getting emails from the Sizzix site boasting about big changes at JoAnn's. I thought it was a campaign introducting the Big Kick and the new dies and etc. Also, all the Ellison items were deeply discounted on the Sizzix site as if they were being discounted. I love the black and pink ad. The Big Shot was black with pink highlights. The Sizzix Side Kick was pink with black highlights. The dies were all black and there were new storage boxes for the Bigz and dies. Super cute! Regardless, I think that they are going to be bringing out a new line at CHA. Can't wait!!! |
I only have a cricut for diecutting but have been looking at the cuttlebug for embossing.... Here's my question. I would so get these instead for the color combination (strange I know) but can I emboss with either of these like the cuttlebug?

I have a Big Shot and I use all brands of dies and embossing folders in my Big Shot...no problem.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BIG KICK AND BIG SHOT
wHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE BIGKICK AND THE BIG SHOT?
|
Nothing, they are the same.

Just the color and the shape is slightly different...other than that they are both Sizzix products and do the same thing. |

If you go the site and click on customer care at the top and then on the news button you can see the pink and white Big Kick and the black dies. There are three news articles about AC Moore, Jo's and Mike's. |
I need help figuring out which plates to sandwich the Original Sizzix dies in to cut with my new Big Kick machine. I gave the old original Sizzix to a friend, and now I can't figure out the correct combination to use.
|
The sandwich for using the original dies with the Big Kick/Shot is:
clear cutting mat die face (metal) up paper clear cutting mat Be sure to hold the back of the top cutting mat down as it goes through to minimize bending and warping. |
My friend has a LSS and she has the new Big Shots in. They are super cute, pink / black with a little bling on it. I think I might need to add some bling to my boring old blue one.
|
All these machines, different colors...it's too tough to keep up with the changes. And yet they keep coming out with innovative shapes, dies, etc..that I can't stop trying.
I currently own: 1. Old Sizzix with red handle 2. Sidekick 3. ZAZ (which I don't like!) 4. Zip'eMate 5. QK "Squeeze" (I sold the original blue handtool) 6. Cuttlebug (allows feeding embossing folder in sideways) 7. Wishblade - my most used die cutting "system" Do I have a problem, ya think?? (LOL) |
I've been trying hard to stay away from the die cutting machines, outside of the original Quickutz I bought many, many years ago. I did break down and buy the Quickutz Revolution for half off at a booth at a CK event but after going to CHA and seeing the new Big Shot in person, along with all the new dies and accessories, I gotta say that I'm pretty ready to jump in. I love the new black and pink, I love the new storage bags, and I love the new dies.

Novell.......you should jump on this one for THAT price! I got mine one half price through a TAC deal.
|
wanted to add.. I had a big shot ...and basically traded it for a Big Kick.. just so all my sizzix stuff (original/sidekick etc) would match! (hows that for ISSUES) But I love BOTH machines!!! I have a ton of cuttlebug folders and alphas that I use in it as well. sooo easy! :)

Yes, they do. Depending upon the age of your platform, they might need a shim to help, but they work - you'll need to do one half at at time since the embossing folder is longer than the presser foot is. Hope that helps! |

Ok...I went to CHA and saw in person the new Sizzix and Big Shot....and it is soooooo awesome. They also are coming out with a really cool carry case and storage boxes for the dies. Here is a link to my blog where I posted pics of some of the things I saw at the Sizzix booth.

pink/black sizzix
Any difference between the pink/black and the blue/black machine? I went to ebay but can't tell.
|
There is no difference between the mahines except for colour. But in the pink/black box it has the multi purpose platform/plates only. The blue machine has this plus dies and an embossing folder included. So if you wouldn't use the dies included in the blue go for the pink if you are buying now. I guess the pink will take over once the blues run out of stock and then you will have to buy your own first dies.
|
Anyone know when the new dies will be available in stores. kim

I am guessing that as the old moves out the new will be phased in. |

Any sites online carrying the pink/black one yet? I would much rather have this than the cuddlebug. I like the colors better!

There's a big reason why we call our biggest shape-cutting and embossing machine a Big Shot. It's because the stylish black-and-pink Big Shot works with the entire Sizzix product library, including our biggest and smallest dies and most exciting techniques. If that wasnt big enough, this ultimate roller machine cuts everything from cardstock to fabric and many things in between. Now thats a big deal. Included with the Big Shot are a pair of Standard Cutting Pads and the Multipurpose Platform, which makes all Sizzix components compatible with the Big Shot Machine and even works with other brands' dies and embossing tools!
