For those of you that have the stamp storage cabinets....do the 1" drawers accomodate your wood mounted stamps and still be able to close? As in are they deep enough?
Thanks!
I don't own the cabinets, but I've used those drawers (acrylic box frames) for years. Yes, they do accomodate most stamps. There will always be oddball stamps, though, lol. I have a few cube stamps, fer instance. No way will they fit, unfortunately. But normal stamps will fit single layers just fine.
10 drawers.....2 3/4 in deep. i also saw one like it at Lowes in the closet dept......i got mine at office depot....had to order it, delivered in one day !! that was in june....
I bought one of the small ones on wheels and one of the larger units on wheels. Which one you get really depends on what you want to do with it. The 1 inch drawers are perfect for smaller things: embellishments separated into the plastic divider drawers that they also sell, mounted rubber stamps, envelopes, blank cards, etc. The 2 inch drawers I use for some of my tools like my Cropadile and stapler. I'm actually contemplating ordering 2 more of the small sized ones filled with just the 1 inch drawers. I just became an SU demonstrator and I figure I'll need somewhere for some of my stamp sets and inks.
I looked at the Best Scrapbook Shelf website and I have a question - probably I am missing something - I will blame it on the early time of the day -
do you buy the cabinet and then buy drawers separately? Is that what they mean by "inserts"?
How do you decide how many "inserts" to get?
\
Also how many stamp sets will fit into the "inserts" (assuming they are drawers). Do you store them in the plastic cases?

You buy the cabinet as one item and each drawer as a separate item. That way you can choose how many of the drawers you want in 1 inch size, 2 inch size, etc. Each cabinet tells you how many "inches" of drawer you can fit into it.
The inserts are little clear plastic inserts much like those you use in a silverware drawer. I use them to organize beads, etc. Stamps won't fit into the inserts. For an example....I have an insert in one of the 1 inch drawers. It has 30 small sections in it, each measuring about 2X2X1 inch deep.
I don't have any SU stamps in the drawers yet, but I'm wondering whether I should store them in the plastic cases or not, since I could fit more stamps in each drawer if they are NOT in the plastic cases. What does someone else think?
I love these shelves...I own one triple stack full of 1" drawers...expensive, but so worth it; 2 double minis - one for 12x12 papaer and one for tools and ribbon; two minis - one for Cuttlebug folders/brads/eyelets/buttons/Dewdrops and one for everyday tools; and recently I bought three of the Organized Crafter base units (only have 2" drawers). My room is very neat now and I have tons of room to grow.
The Triple stack full of 1" drawers houses all my wood mounted stamps. I have over 400 sets in them and there are alot of empty drawers waiting to be filled. The drawers can hold up to approximately 4 big sets of stamps (greeting sets like All Year Cheer) or as many as 8 to 10 little ones (Dreams Du Jour) wgen stored out of the plastic cases.
I am so happy I found these... definitely worth every penny.
This post is just chock full of useful info - thanks!
For those who are storing their SU sets out of the plastic cases, how do you keep track of them? Or is that not a factor for you? I've always stored mine in the plastic boxes and like keeping sets together - am I understanding that using these drawers would make it impractical to do that and get full use of the space? Or do I just need deeper drawers?

Hi Julie,
I have all my stamps categorized (using SU categories) in their original sets, but loose (I hope that makes sense...). I stamped 6 x6 pages and used the Bind-It-All to make books so I know which stamps I have, which stamps belong together and what is in each drawer. I try to use every nook and cranny of the drawers, but I would rather have a few spaces than break up my sets.

Thanks Lana! That makes sense to me. Can I ask a couple more questions? How many stamp sets do you have (approximately?) and how many drawers of what size? Do you label the drawers? I've got my sets catalogued so I know exactly how many I have and am hoping you can help me figure out how many drawers of which size I would need to be able to store them all.

No problem Julie...
I have about 400 SU sets, all the Rileys (from Hanna Stamps) and a few misc stamps. For my stamps I have the Triple Stack filled with 90 1" drawers. These are for all my single mounted stamps. I just counted and I have 54 drawers completed filled, 10 partially filled and 26 to be filled. I also just purchased an Organized crafter base unit (the newer, more economical brand they carry) for my double-mounted SUs as it appears they are now carrying more of these and they do not fit in the 1" drawers.
I label my drawers using the same titles as SU uses in their catalogue, ie. Greetings, Occassions, Elements, etc and then I also use their subtitles to further break them down. I can hardly believe that I am this organized, but now I can find everything and I have not bought any sets twice since
How many stamps sets do you have? Are they large sets (ie. AYC) or smaller sets like One of a Kind? Let me know and maybe I can help you decide what might work for you.
 Warning: purchasing one of these units will only lead to wanting more...

No, no, no, please don't say that! I just bought 2 at the end of July. I haven't used them yet because I am getting my craft room built (countertops, cabinets etc...). Once it is complete, I am going to be figuring out how to use the 2 that I bought. I am thinking paper storage. Don't tell me that I am going to want more (WAHHHHHH).
I am looking for a way to store all of my 8-1/2 x 11 paper. Does anyone know if this company has a system for that. Currently I store it in a filing cabinet in file folders - but I want something that shows it on display - like they do in the stores - so that you can see the colour schemes quickly.

I use the 1" drawers or the paper shelves are great to store 8.5 x11 paper. They are perfect, as you can flip through the cardstock easily.

Shipping prices depend on the sixe of product you buy... The Mini is $20 s/h; Double Mini is $40 s/h; the Triple Stack is $100 s/h.
I usually make my purchases through Rhea at http://www.scrapbooking.ca/ as she gets them to include all the drawers for one low shipping price, instead of the website which charges for everything separately.
Does anyone know if the 1" drawers fit 4 packs of the stampin' spots? I am trying to figure out what size drawers I need and to hold what before I order as it is a large investment.

Will she ship to the US? I like her shipping prices better LOL~
I'm so glad I found this thread! Lots of useful information. Lana, do you have any pictures of your craft room and the drawer units you have? I would love a peek!

Sorry Cardshark, no pix yet, but I will take some and then get DH to dowload on the computer so I can get them on here for ya. It might take a little while, as I am not tech-savvy. lol

Hi Epolock...
I just tried it and yes the 1" drwaer will fit four of the stampin' spots, even in their original cases.
Wow...Italk about them so much, I think I should probably start selling these organizers  lol.
Hey Lana, I have another question for you... Do you have any of the paper shelves or do you just use the 1" drawers? If you do have the paper shelves how do you like them? And are they easy to get your 12x12 cardstock in and out of? I am getting one of the Triple large units and want to make sure I use the space to it's fullest!

Hi Erin,
Lucky you...I love my Triple Stack :-D
I have a Double Mini full of papershelves and they are great for the 12x12 paper. I prefer having them at a slant...so it means you can only have one less shelf (ie if you put paper all on the one stack of 30, you can only get 29 shelves in there) and they only fit about 50 sheets of cardstock comfortably...anymore and they become hard to remove and flip through. Also note that you do not pull the papershelves out... so you just pull out the sheet you want to use. I like the 1" drawers for the 8.5x11 paper, since the drawers can accomodate a lot more paper. The 2" drawers are awesome for my SU punches, I have three full drawers and also all my embossing powders. The 3.5" are great for my ribbons for Michaels and dewdrop bottles.
I hope this helps and if you have more questions, please let me know.

Thanks Lana! It is good to know that if I wanted my shelves on a slant (and I do!) that I would need to get 29 instead of 30 to fit in the one section. You have been so helpful, thank you! Now I can't wait to get my hands on this storage piece. :-D
For all of those who are contemplating one of these units...they are having an amazing sale roght now. It says quantities are limited and deals like these are pretty hard to pass up. I am comtemplating the walnut coloured desk and hutch. HMMMM...
