There are a lot of masking techniques I dont do a lot because my tapes tear the paper when I remove them. I have heard a lot of good things about the Icraft purple tape and I think theromoweb carries one too.
Any recommendations? What is a good price point for it?
Are there any regular masking tape rolls that are the same thing (like in the painters tape section)?
Diane, I haven’t tried it on dies, but If others don’t chime in I will and will report back. I use small bits of washi more than once so they aren’t very stickified.

I do a lot of scenic stamping -- and for detailed masking with stamps to compose a scene, you can't beat the Eclipse tape. Made for art purposes. Sometimes I'll use about a dozen fussy cut masks on a scene. This stuff is my go to. Eclipse Tape Medium Tack Masking Paper > Peddlers Den
I have the yellow Frog tape and it has torn my paper on occasion but only the cheaper GP cardstock I was using to try out different techniques before I used the "good stuff".
Yellow Frog tape hasnt torn my CS but I first tape off (like we stamp off) onto my jeans or arm if using fragile paper. Otherwise, keeping your hand close to the paper and pulling at an angle does the trick, with the hand resting or almost resting on the paper. IOW, not pulling from higher up or vertically. Not that I think rockybeta has done that, just talking generally since she mentioned it.
You are absolutely right bjeans.........I thought the tape would pull right up and I really wasn't careful with it........didn't realize it until you mentioned it. Good idea to "tape off" too. Thanks for the reminders!
Another definite vote here for yellow Frog Tape. Used right off the roll, it is strong enough to hold dies yet never tears cardstock if you remove it by slowly pulling it off back on itself. If you do it right, it's good for 2-3 more uses.
Actually, you can use Dollar Store blue painters' tape in a pinch if you tape it off enough on your shirt.....the key is how you remove it.
Thanks for the suggestions! I do “tape off” with my other tapes and still have an issue. I might try the yellow frog tape first and see if I can manage with that, if not I will buy another one from the list here.
For just masking off a border or frame, I simply use a large post it or removable scotch tape. Several strips of the tape are stuck to my Cuttlebug to use with dies, if need be. I usually make masks from post its, but if not enough of it is covered by the sticky strip, I put a small piece of removable double-sided tape where ever it is needed to keep it down. I have never had trouble carefully removing any of these.
