I purchased my misti prior to you putting a 90 day warranty in effect. Legally warranties can not be applied retroactively. It would be very good business if you would replace my misti. I understand you put it together yourself. But the materials you used could have had a defect in it that you did not realize such as being old or deteriorated.

I also understand that online, cross state purchases are protected in ways other purchases are not. It would be really awesome statement of how you stand by the quality of your product if you replaced my cracked misti.

As a person who is considering purchasing a MISTI, I thank Kat123 for informing us of the Final Out Come. I was interested in what the resolution would be.

That is correct - I offered no warranty whatsoever prior to 2/23/15 - now I have instituted a 90 day limited warranty. This is a service upgrade for my customers. No manufacturer is required to provide a warranty, but I chose to do so.

The issue was how they finished off the product. I am able to recognize the defect and can judge whether it falls under that defect.

??? So is this only allowed to be a cheer leading thread? People aren't allowed to speak honestly? (I thought you were asking Kathy and Iliana to take their personal conversation out of the thread, which makes sense and I appreciated, but if you meant something else, I'm confused.)

Our rules state quite clearly that once a company responds, the conversation needs to go off site. You understood correctly.

Back to the topic, as I stated.

FYI in case you bought the quilting guides from amazon/joann - the ones I used in my video that Maureen found (I think) - one side of those has the printing on them and one side doesn't.

A *friend* may or may not have enthusiastically scrubbed ink off hers and actually removed some of the grid printing. So position it with the non-printed side up to stamp on for alignment.

According to my friend

Okay what is the skin thing that we put on the outside of the lid? ( I seen it on the newbie how to assemble it video ) can find a link to it if needed but, found that on the facebook page.

I am reading that some people put that film on the inside of the lid so rubber stamps stick to it and
I am thinking maybe I did it backwards and really do I need one on both sides of the lid? so if so is that sheet of ( what ever it is) sold somewhere?

It's to protect the pink, screen-printed grid on the outside of the lid.

What uncbballfan posted is if you want it on the inside (the part the stamps stick to) side of the lid.

My stamps are all photopolymer or cling, so I don't need anything extra to make stamps stick to the inside of the lid.

(well, aside from the 84,000 wood stamps I have )

This may have already been mentioned somewhere on these 25 pages , but another "basic" yet really helpful benefit of my MISTI is that I don't get halo or stray ink spots from rocking my stamps. I can't accidentally rock them with my MISTI. Now if I could just keep my inky fingers off my my card stock, I'd be all set!

okay so, I have as of yet not torn any of my rubber stamps off the blocks... and I do have cling foam sheets in the closet so, I probably will go that way when I do those flowers and they will just stick to the lid. ( I have only played with this once so far and used really detailed clear stamps and was able to restamp them 2 and 3 times YAY it even works for me) lol ( you never really know about these things until you try them yourself)

My MISTI arrived yesterday and I have already cut out all of Cyndie's templates and watched all of Iliana, Maureen, and Lydia's videos. I'm ready to play.

This is why I quit counting.

Enough said. I don't want to know any numbers anymore. Too depressing!

HOWEVER...I can't wait to see your remodel. I am good at visualizing...so of course I have a sketch of your room, where all the furniture was put, and have a good picture in my mind. BUT...those photos are what I sigh and drool over! Can't wait!

I received my MISTI last week and LOVE it. I can stamp over an image that did not come out quite right, I no longer have stray spots of ink from rocking my block on my paper, I can line things up exactly where I want them. I can go on. My question is about cleaning the MISTI. I use a wet rag to clean ink off the MISTI. Do I have to use the NOVUS cleaner? I assume that water is not harmful.

Novus is the recommended cleaner. I'm using what's recommended. You would think water wouldn't do any damage, but depending on your location you may have harsh water...I believe in most areas tap water contains fluoride...not sure that would harm acrylic or not.

Also keep in mind this post:

Don't worry. The cleaner isn't terribly expensive. You can get a HUGE bottle from the Container Store for $3.99. Great news if you have locally to you.

Otherwise you can order it online for less than $10.

I ah just pulled the stamps off the misti and rubbed them on my stamp scrub... so the one time I have used mine, I did not get ink on the Misti and I did not open the novus cleaner yet...

so, since your hands are washable?? maybe that will work for someone else.

This is the one Iliana recommends: http://www.amazon.com/NOVUS-PC-10-Pl...=Novus+cleaner

However, she did say that you could use any plastic cleaner. Someone else mentioned finding a product at Walmart in the automotive department.

I use a hand cleaner which makes it super easy to wash off the ink. Just put a little on the hands BEFORE you start stamping. All ink comes off super easily afterwards.

It is the Blue & White bottle called Novus Clean and Shine and I bought mine at Amazon.

Caring for this thing is a lot of Hocus Pocus . I am certainly NOT suggesting anyone should ignore the notice we got with the MISTI as to the cleaning product we must use

However, I have had "acrylic" stamp blocks for 8 years and never used any special cleaner on them . I have had both the thick blocks and the thin ones by Unity that have a thin acrylic plate like the MISTI lid

I clean my stamps right on the block with solvent or other appropriate cleaner and I know I have used Windex on the stamp blocks too, because I Windex everything. I have never had any of them crack!
I have also used Windex on my Cuttlebug acrylic plates and never had one of those crack either

I wonder what type of acrylic is used to make the MISTI that requires this Dog an Pony show to clean and care for it so it doesn't crack .

My bottle of Novus doesn't say what is in it. It does says "Keep From Freezing." Where did you see it has alcohol in it . It is a white creamy stuff. It says it is Cleans, shines, protects and is Antifog, Antistatic, Dust repellent. For use on all Plastic surfaces.

Oh, I didn't know there was just a cleaner. I saw the picture of the Novus bottle on Iliana's site and bought that

I can fully understand why people toss in the towel on this hobby . Everything needs a drawer full of OTHER stuff to keep it in good condition or work as intended

I just checked Iliana's site and she shows a picture on the shop page
of Novus Clean and Shine
Novus 1 Plastic Polish | My Sweet Petunia

And I just checked my bottle again and it is the same bottle . It is a milky liquid in a pump spray bottle so yes it is a spray.

OOPS
I bought the Novus set with the Clean and Polish and the scratch removers . The light scratch remover is in a white and red bottle and that is the white creamy stuff that I used on my cheap plastic reading glasses

It is not a spray -sorry for the confusion

Hi,
I am not sure how this became so complicated. I use alcohol free baby wipes to wipe off my stamps. When I am done stamping, I clean the MISTI with the Novus. If you have crazing or cracking you contact me.

Not to be a Debbie Downer, but the issue of acrylic cleaning (i.e. stamp block cleaning) is not new. Here on SCS are several discussions about it. I learned my lesson years ago because I didn't know any difference. I used StazOn Cleaner, Windex, or 409 to clean my stamp blocks and ruined several. I keep one on hand just so I can show what can happened (see pic below). The cracks at the top of the block were caused by my cleaners. I actually had a couple of blocks break when the cracks wore through. Now, I just use non-alcohol baby wipes, homemade stamp cleaner and have not seen anymore cracks.

I used to see the same kind of cracks in our acrylic glasses & serving dished we used for the pool because I put them in the dishwasher. Now all my acrylic pool serving dishes are hand washed and no more cracks.
