When say a background stamp doesn't quite ink everything, do you reink the whole stamp or just try to,reink the spots not quite covered?
Kathy
I reink mainly the spots that didn't cover.

For those of us that are obsessed with our MISTI and insanely thought about ordering a second one just in case....there is a lady that posted on Facebook that she did order a second one just in case something happened to hers. i still think about doing that once in while. Maybe if I unsubscribe from this thread it won't be so tempting...LOL

I am definitely going to get a second one but not until Iliana is caught up with her orders... I don't want to prevent someone that doesn't have one from getting one when I already have one.

I think it looks like a great tool but I also think it's overpriced. At $50 the grid paper, magnets and cleaner should be included in the price. Just my opinion.

Just a reminder here to be nice. It's okay to disagree. It's not okay to make the disagreement derail the thread.

I derailed the thread and wasn't nice? I had no idea. You could have told me via PM though. I feel terrible now. Think I'd better go back to lurking so I don't screw up again. My apologies, didn't mean to cause trouble.

I hope Pink Petunia is making a profit from her hard work and ingenuity. At this point (despite all of us obsessing and ordering), it is probably a very low volume manufacturing operation without economies of scale. I'm fine with the price given its value to me.

I totally agree Krista. I hope she is making money on this product, she works so hard for all of us & she is a genius to come up with such an AMAZING product!!! I LOVE my MISTI & it was worth every penny & I'm so glad I bought the grid paper, magnets & cleaner when I ordered mine. I just did 40 baby shower invites & it was a joy to work with & cut my time in half! Thank you sooooooo much Iliana!!!

Krista, Rita. and MISTI owners, I'm so with you! It's too bad prospective buyers can't see and hold the MISTI in their hands, to actually see first hand the quality and genius that Iliana has put into the MISTI. The old saying, "you get what you pay for." most certainly applies here. We do love our MISTI's and Iliana. I hope everyone who loves stamping is able to get one.

Some of us feel the MISTI is priced right, some of us don't. Can we say we've covered this point and move on? I love when people share what they're doing with their MISTI. (To the stamper who created the grid to figure out putting a sentiment around a circle ... bless you a thousand times!)

Forgive me if this has been addressed already, but my MISTI hasn't arrived yet.

Do any magnets come with the MISTI?
I guess I assumed a couple did, but now I'm not so sure.
Has anyone used regular, store-bought grid paper (graph paper) w/their MISTI?
Just wondering...

Thanks!
Sarah

The magnets do not come with MISTI. Iliana has said you can purchase them at Home Depot. Grid paper from office supply store works fine just need to cut it down. Iliana does sell both items on her website. HTH

The magnets are included with the purchase of a MISTI. You can order magnets from Sweet Petunia, or similar magnets can be purchased elsewhere. The suggestions for what and where to buy the similar magnets is somewhere in this thread.

I received my MISTI Thursday and finally had a chance to use it yesterday. LOVE it! It's totally worth reallocating money you would normally use for stamps to buy this tool. It will breathe new life into some of your old stamps that have caused frustration in the past.

One additional item that a stamper suggested on the MISTIfied FB group are these quilting templates.

Amazon.com: Quilter's Gridded Plastic Template 8"X11" 6/Pkg

They're very easy to cut to size to fit the MISTI. I used this A LOT yesterday. I like that it has gridlines and is more durable than a transparency sheet. I used it to first line up my stamp before I attached it to the MISTI cover. Next, stamp on it to double check that you have the stamp straight and to be sure you like the placement. I'm thinking about adhering a piece of white card stock to the back of one of them to use underneath my card stock. I like that it doesn't curl.

Thanks for the tip! I just ordered, sounds like they're going to come in handy for unique stamping with my MISTI. WOW, we're finding more and more uses for our beloved MISTI.

There is a YT video that fits a sticky mat into the MISTI.

She uses a Sizzix eclips sticky mat. <iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/zjdCUUjZiGA?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

I'm thinking the quilters templates may work much better. I can always make them sticky. I can always use my tape runner and peel it off when finished, as well. I like the smaller gridlines on the quilters template, plus you can see through it. I've already cut up a mat and used as described in the video, and it works as described.

Talking Warning!

I too love this thread and used to read it everyday. Then I stopped reading this thread.
Why? My MISTI arrived and I've been busy in my craft room ever since. Fair Warning!!!

My order # is 3402
Does anyone know which number was last shipped?
I am just wondering where I am in the Que.

It is helpful that she gave each a number so we could track the progress.

I was in the last shipment of 500. She was expecting another shipment of 500 on Monday (yesterday). It's likely that you are in either yesterdays' shipment or in the next one.

Thanks! Her post on FB says she is packing pre-orders so the Monday shipment must have arrived. I have a new background stamp that is waiting for ink and the MISTI . I never had good luck with background stamps so this will be the real test .

Been busy playin' with this awesome new tool and love it, love it, love it! But there is a bit of a learning curve. The richness of the color I can get with a total assurance of re-stamping exactly where I need to is amazing!!! But ... I'm so used to inking up multiple colors on a stamp with my markers. Having the stamp on the MISTI is awkward and coloring the stamp first and then fixing it where I want is rather humorous to watch. I can tell I'm going to have to get more accustomed to masking but there are occasions where my markers are just better. Regardless of the carnival I've created for myself, the ability to re-ink and re-stamp to get that deeper crisper color is fabulous!

Looks like MISTI might have a little competition.....I was watching cartoons with the kids this morning and Curious George made his own MISTI. He was making his valentine cards by painting heart stamps and sticking them to the inside lid of a waffle iron and closing the lid. This then brought me to two thoughts....if a monkey could use a MISTI I certainly should be able to (hey, maybe this could be MISTI's new advertising slogan!) and waffles would be great for breakfast.

Amber, you will LOVE it. Especially if you are still making the many, many, many cards for our troops. I had a ton of scraps that I made into simple bookmarks ... I stamped about 100 of them with a big sentiment stamp in about an hour the other day (and that was double stamping because the stamp I used is a cheapo that I could NEVER get a good impression out of)!!!

Well, gee...I had convinced myself that I didn't need this. After reading all 18 pages (yes, I am that nerd and also had to convince myself to spend that money) I think I need to start saving up for one. As for the price, which has been talked about a lot, yes, it is a lot of money, but when I think I spent 25$ on a big rock-a-block for my background stamps and still don't always get a good impression, then it's probably worth it. Can't wait! And thanks for all the great information. I love to be able to 'research' a new tool to find out if it is worth all the hype. Thanks!!!

Beth, I received my quilters templates today. Thank you so much for sharing, I absolutely love them. I tested the grid on both sides, and found the side I can use alcohol to clean without wiping out the grid lines. You're so right, I can see through them, and the gridlines and weight is perfect! Great find!!!

Yay! I'm so glad you're finding them useful. I was just passing on another stamper's great find.

One of the many reasons to own a MISTI...coloring stamps with light colored markers. In the first picture, the entire image was stamped one time. In the second picture, the flower was stamped 3 times. The lighting is bad is both pictures, but you get the idea. The blue is not quite as dark in real life as it looks on the screen. For those of you familiar with SU! colors, these are Soft Sky (could never have used that marker to color a stamp before) and Crumb Cake. Note that the stamp is textured, so that's why there is a "water color" look to it....it's not a poorly stamped solid image.

Yup I bought the Mega rocking acrylic block too and it did not work with background stamps for me either
I have high hopes for my MISTI when I get it

I couldn't ever get a solid impression with the mega block and gave it away and never looked back.
