I have always said it seems it great product and I am glad you agree that it is the testimonial of the actual, not paid for endorsement, owners with all their positive feedback that is the biggest sway with their positive posts.
This is pretty standard practice among most industries. (even in the medical field where I work, we're given free samples of all kinds of drugs, however doesn't mean the doctor will prescribe it if he doesn't like the drug). Walking through Costco on a weekend...there are free samples of almost everything! lol However, JM doesn't promote products that she doesn't use or like....she simply won't mention them. This is not a parallel to a Kobe Bryant endorsing Nike. In fact, I've seen a few other people in the industry that are sent product to try and they are very honest about what they think....this was part of the Studio Calico decline and the rise of Scraptastic.

There is nothing wrong with sending a product to someone highly respected in the industry to try for a review....with all the products out there, sometimes sending a sample is the best way to get product in the right hands...and I'll bet that we see more of MISTI in JM's videos in the near future!!!

I seriously doubt JM would have found it the way I did...which was stalking YouTube for all the card making channels! I fall asleep every night (drives my bf nuts! lol) watching all the wonderful ladies sharing their card making processes! lol

I think it's SO COOL that Iliana's product made JM's favorites list!!!

What amuses me most about JM reviewing the MISTI is that I bought it to be able to do the stuff that she can do without the MISTI! Stuff like multi-part stamping or stamping over a stamped image. She did some ombre-style stamping by stamping over the same image 3 times with no mistakes, live on video! The MISTI lets me "cheat" and make cool effects with almost no discards.

Oh definitely. I have been on more than one evening out at the expense of the pharmaceutical industry, without counting all the pens, post-its, calendars etc. I'm actually highlighting it IS standard practice.

I think it is up to any of us to decide whether or not a person favors a product when it was provided to them FoC and take that on board. It is one of the reason the FTC has bloggers disclose free product/review.

The FTC itself - http://www.ftc.gov/sites/default/fil...mentguides.pdf

An easier to read overview FTC Disclosures for Brands and Bloggers which contains the follow link

And an overview on blogging New FTC Rules on Writing Reviews, Affiliations, and Sponsored Posts Dianne Jacob, Will Write For Food

Quote:

1. The FTC can fine both the blogger and the company for not disclosing an arrangement where the company compensates the blogger for a review, positive mention, or sponsored post. Wouldn’t that be a bummer, to not mention your arrangement in the post and then find it costs you a new client? So not worth it.

First, let’s define an “arrangement.” According to the FTC, compensation happens when you:
  • Receive a free product and review it
  • Link to the product’s website and receive a commission (called an affiliate program)
  • Receive money, product or services for posting about a product
  • Review a product or service that comes from an advertiser on your site.
Please note these aren't my rules, these are consumer protection rules.

You still get pens, post its and free food?? We haven't gotten any of those since 2009!! When Pharma voluntarily included them as an extension of the Stark law. All we get now is drug samples!' Lol. I'm jealous!!!

This was when I worked for that "socialized" medicine in England. I didn't want to do it here. But it always makes me laugh when Pharma says that they won't make money if we went to single payer healthcare because I have experienced differently.

I pre-ordered MISTI on 11-21 and received an email this AM that my order has been completed. There isn't a tracking# on the notification. Do you not get the tracking#? Iliana does send them USPS Priority so expected a tracking#. I am obsessed to get my MISTI, I've been hanging by my toe nails waiting...LOL

I received my email, too. No tracking info or anything.

I ordered the screenprinted version. It'll have the screen printing on the top, right?

You will get the tracking number tomorrow. The order completion happens and Illianna needs to get to the post office before the tracking number can be sent to you. She works fast, so don't worry. You're gonna LOVE MISTI.

That video is brilliant! I never could get stamp and die cut images exactly right, whether I cut first or stamped first. I love my MISTI, AND I can't wait to try this technique! Thank you so much.

Hey, those of you with electronic cutters can use that "die cut" technique too! I stamped an ornament stamp image on white card with black ink and then scanned it and turned it into a cutting file. I have to tell you that I tweaked the trace to that it was pretty much perfect and then I made a box around it so that when I cut it out I had a "template" and then did the same thing that you do when using a die!!! It worked great!!! I used VersaMark ink and then embossed it with gold embossing powder. I then took the "Happy Holidays" stamp and stamped the inside of the ornament with VersaMark and then embossed with the gold powder. Here is a photo of what I wound up with.

Sorry my photo is so large but I did that on purpose so that you could see it up close and personal! BTW........I used my Cameo!

This is what I think will be the best thing for me. Cutting the Shapes with the Cameo and then lining up the stamping with MISTI.

Talking Order complete but back-ordered.

I received a message that my order was completed as well.
I did receive the extra grid pads and the plastic polish that I ordered separately from the MISTI, it also showed the following:
"MISTI Screen Printed Pre-order delivery estimated 12/15/14
Back-ordered: 1"

I am hoping this means that the MISTI will be shipped today?
I hope so, I have 12 Happy New Year's cards I want to do and the MISTI will make it easier.
I know she is in over her head and has dozens of people wanting their orders, but I am excited. I haven't been this excited over an order in a while!
As a Stampin Up Demo, I already have the sneak peek of the 2015 Spring Occasions & SAB catalogs and even though I have my Spring order on its way to me, I am more excited over getting my MISTI!!
As for me, I have to go to the post office to mail packages on what my husband tells me is the busiest day of the year for the post office!

Didn't receive the tracking # today. Iliana must be buried trying to get these out. I know she has many responsibilities and works very hard. She probably never imagined the demand it has received and that it would consume her life for a while. I have never been so obssessed to get something!

I received my MISTI today. The screenprinting is on the top of the lid, and it came with a sheet of clear clingvinyl with instructions to put it over the grid on the lid.

This looks like a fantastic tool and I know I'll use it quite a bit. I do wish it held a full 8.5x11 sheet of paper, though. Or, even better for me, 12x12.

My MISTI arrived today. HOOORAY! It is wonderful, very well made. Iliana included a vinyl cling for protection to cover the screen printed grid. Now to go play some more.

My new MISTI arrived and I tried it out last night. It is even better than I thought it would be! The design is brilliant and it is well made. It makes stamping on intricate die cuts a breeze. You really can reink and restamp with perfect alignment to correct an incomplete image. It is a dream come true for those of us who love to craft on the go. MISTI is my new best friend!

Another use for MISTI: stamping on acetate (I use DuraLar) with StazOn! I find that I can never stamp clear images with the black StazOn. I always slip and smear. But, I've and great luck with the MISTI--don't know if it's because you have a secure corner, or the magnets that hold everything or because the lid holds the stamp in place, but I'm not smearing anymore!

Got my MISTI Wednesday but have not had a chance to play with it yet. I hope to find some time today to create a card just so I can try it out. It looks awesome & I'm so excited about it! This is going to be my ALL time favorite tool, finally no more wasting cardstock because an image won't stamp fully. I will be making baby invites in February for my daughter's baby shower & this will help me so much.

Kathy, I'm pretty sure that Iliana said on her Facebook page that people who had received the completed order invoice should have received their MISTI by Thursday. If not, they were to contact her and she would do the tracking. I know it's a busy time, but it looks like she responds in a very timely fashion on FB.

I got my MISTI!!!
Now, will someone make the holidays go away so I can play with it!
Since I got it in the mail on Wednesday, I've had to go to my hubby's Christmas party at the Renaissance Hotel (which I forgot to buy a dress for and ran around like a maniac looking for one. It is times like this I wish I did not lose the weight so fast! December 2013's clothes are all too big!). I baked 6 dozen cookies for a cookie swap, made 96 peanut butter balls for a candy swap. I went to my own company's party and made up 4 - 6" clay pots filled with a poinsettia, ivy and some Christmas baubles picks to take to my treatment nurses.
WHEW!
Maybe this week I can play with it and make up my New Years cards.

I've been following this thread for several weeks now and I just placed an order. I'm really excited to get this tool. The receipt says that the approximate delivery date is Jan 10. I have a crop at the end of Jan that I will be going to and would love to take my Misti with me. I'm hoping that it will arrive on time. Has everyone pretty much had a good experience with shipping times?

Also, I've read through this thread and I've read what others have done with acetate paper when 2-step stamping. I have several Kitchen Sink Stamps that are 4-step stamping. Is there an actual video showing this process? I've been through her videos but don't recall seeing one.

Iliana has a video Quick Tip - YouTube. I just cut a piece of clear acetate, no lines, the size of the MISTI. I keep it under the foam so it's handy whenever I need it. I stamp the image in the middle of the acetate making sure it's placed in the lower left corner. I then move the card so the image will stamp where I want it, like you do with your SAMJ, secure the card with magnet or postits, and stamp. *if I'm mass producing I outline the card placement, so I don't have to figure it out for each card. The acetate cleans easily with alcohol or a baby wipe if your not using Stazon. Hope this helps.

Finally had time to play with my MISTI today. I spent the afternoon getting to know my new tool. I'm positive we will be Best Buddies I have spent so much money on crafting stuff that just didn't measure up to the hype...and this thing cost too much to just buy on a whim. I'm so happy I trusted all the comments in this thread and ordered one. It is so easy (and a pleasure) to use. The placement is easy, inking (and re-inking when things aren't quite right) is a breeze. To everyone wondering if it is worth the price and bother, YES!!!!!

My order was in the last batch of preorders. They were mailed a few days earlier than the original estimated ship date (via USPS priority). Iliana sent an email letting me know it was on the way and I had it in my hands 3 days later.

You are going to love your MISTI. Seriously, it takes all the frustration out of stamping on die cuts, restamping to correct incomplete stamp impressions and lining things up. What a brilliant invention! And it really works!

If I were a blogger I would have been happy to read the info you gave, Kristen. For my own protection. With all the laws and regulations out there for so many areas (you should try and keep up with mortgage lending regs! Ugh!!!) it's almost impossible to keep current. I never read your post as even implying, let alone stating, that anyone was being unscrupulous. I'm sorry that it seems they were taken that way.

I am one of the strong promoters of the MISTI. I paid for my MISTI, and have not received a penny from Iliana. Since I pay through PayPal, I have the receipt to prove it. After reading the law, I just feel the need to let everyone here know, I just absolutely love the MISTI and Iliana. It's not often you find a business that cares for their customers, as Iliana does. She's a breath of fresh air. I love Jennifer McGuire and have purchased products she's recommended. I've never been disappointed with any of my purchases so far. I do have to add, I fell in love with the MISTI, long before Jeniffer reviewed it!

I agree Kristen, the best way to find out if a product is worth the money is from those who have purchased the product. I also believe there are bloggers who just know when a product is worth reviewing, and would not risk their reputation wether they received it free or offered money.

Already people are trying to figure out how to reproduce it. Lindsay the Frugal Crafter has had many people request that she come up with a 'frugal' way of making it, and others are suggesting what they have already done. It's only a matter of time before a knock-off hits the market; whether it works as well as the original, well that's another story.

Kristin, I'm just wondering why you thought Jennifer's post was directed at you. She gets thousands of comments, so she could've been directing it to anyone. She may have just felt the need to let her viewers know. I just don't see, I found her post, where she mentioned you or anyone else for that matter.
