In shopping for a scoring board I see the that the Martha Stewart board is $10 less than the Score Pal on Amazon (I have a gift card for them so I want to buy there). Is there anything Id be missing if I went with the Martha version?

I have both and I personally don't like the Martha Stewart one as well. I don't feel that the score lines on the board are wide enough or maybe it's that the score tool doesn't fit right I'm not sure. My score tool slips off the lines easy
Now for the scrotal I love it but wish I had the newer version with the new measurements but I still use it all the time.
While I like the MS board, the scoring tool is terrible. It's the first time in my 13+ years of paper crafting that I had a scoring tool actually wear down after a few dozen scores.
I have the MS version and I use a metal knitting needle instead of the plastic scoring tool that comes with it. I tried the scoring tool and it is okay but I got used to using a knitting needle when all I had was the grove in my paper cutter for. I didn't have a stylus and the knitting needle was free since I already had a couple with lost mates.
I'd say start with the MS board since it is cheaper and you have a gift card. I find it is a decent tool for the price but I've never tried the Scor-Pal to compare. On the other hand, I read somewhere, maybe on these boards, that the prices were supposed to come down on the Scor-Pal to be more competitive with the MS pricing as they're losing business. So, you might want to wait. I guess my answer is a flipflop reply and probably of no help LOL!
I have both, thanks to the generosity of Diana at Scor Pal so I have been able to compare. The benefits of the Scor-Pal that I've found so far....the measurement numbers are larger and darker and easier to read. (Important to me since my eyes aren't what they used to be!) The scoring tool is better and the scor lines are grooved better so I don't "jump the tracks". The new one that I received also comes with a very handy self healing mat and you can store it over the score board as it fits into that space exactly. I am giving the MS one to a friend. The Scor Pal is a keeper!
I have Score Pal and like it but bought the MS today. I had a $10.00 AC Moore rewards coupon that expires 1/31 and didn't want to waste it. So, with a 50% off coupon and the $10.00 off I paid $2.71 for it. Not a bad deal. I really didn't see anything else in the store I wanted. Hope they restock soon.
I ended up ordering the MS option today. I'm not sure how much I'll actually use a scoring tool so I think it's a good start. I was also partial to the color since it will match my desk...I'm such a nerd!

I have the MS one, and I like it. I use a bone folder that I already have, though, instead of the scoring tool that comes with it. I think you will enjoy it. Like anything, there is a learning curve of figuring out how much pressure to apply, etc. Good luck!

I have read so many posts from people who use the Scorepal and seems everyone loves it. So I just ordered mine today! I am so excited. I ordered the whole special collection since it was free shipping. I can hardly wait till I get it.
I have the MS one also. I got mine at Michales because I had a gift card. It was $19.99 there. This is the first scoring tool that I have. I like it because it came with a guide tool to make my own envelopes. My family was suprised to see a hand made card & an envelope too match!! I like that everything has it's own storage space on the MS scoring board. I won't loose or misplace something. Which ever you choose, ENJOY!!!!

gotta tell you score board read my concern and was in contact with me within a day and is offering me a new scoreboard. I don't get that type of service from my bank!
I received my ScorePal a couple of days ago and I must say I just love it! I ordered the set so I would have the self healing mat that fits right in it. What I really like about this is that the Scorepal is now my work surface, when I am not scoring I have the mat in place. This way I do not need to find a place to store my scoring tool.. it is always right there. So for that reason I give my ScorePal 5 gold stars!
I started with the scor-pal and love it, but now they have the new one with all
the different lines in it. I don't have that one,:( wish i did.
I did buy the Martha one( with a coupon) and i think i have used it 2, I don't like how the marks are,
your tool does seem to want to go into the other lane, and the tool doesn't seem to fit as well as the scor-pal. Maybe i just need to keep trying it, but hate to waste my paper.
LOL I don't know how but I missed the scrotal reference. Had to go back and find it. No wonder you spit your tea out!! Thanks Momof3boys for the laugh. Mother of 3 boys......not surprised at the scrotal slip up-lol.
I bought the MS and I am not very happy with it. The plastic they use is soft so after I used a few times my grooves aren't as accurate as they used to be.
I would go with the SP. Everyone raves about how durable it is. The cost just may be worth it.
I love my MS board. I have had it for over a year and use it all the time. The score it makes is thinner and more crisp than my old SP and I do not feel it is going to break on me and if it does I can buy a second one and it still will not cost me as much as the SP. MS all the way. I bought mine at Micheal's with a 50% of coupon and it was only $11...can't beat that!
