I had the same thing happen to me. I tried the steam thing and it took a looooon time just to un-stick one envelope. I gave up on that idea. I have a feeling I'm going to be using them for srap paper...
We have this happen to our stationery at work during humid weather. Usually they're not stuck completely and sliding a skinny letter opener gently around where the flap and the base meet will loosen them up enough to separate them.
Also, with future envelopes, store them in a sealed ziplock bag with the air sucked out of them. I have to do this because my craft room is in my basement and even with the humidifier running in summer, there is still dampness in the air.

Added tip: Save the silica packets from shoes and such, pop one of those in the ziplock bag as well. The tiny ones in some medication bottles (plastic) are great for embossing powders as well.
