Question Making Prima Flowers

Can someone direct me to the site that had a tutorial on how to make your own prima flowers with punches?

I just punch em
separate out 2 layers from one flower
and stylus some veins in them
wetting them helps too, if you have the time to let them dry...

where's the link?
I wanna see if there's a better way...

I noticed that the blog above uses handmade cardstock. If you don't have that, I have a friend that made them out of mulberry paper with beautiful results. She used a piece of fun foam to press down with a sylus to give that "cushion".

I have not tried Stampin-Up cardstock as yet. I have tried Prism paper
http://www.prismpapers.com and got a very nice look. It was a smoother looking flower and I also did not bend the petals either. I am going to try Stampin-Up and other brands tonight and try bending the petals. I think you just have to play around with different techniques to see what looks best. I think you could also ink the edges before you start.

That's *uber* cool! TFS!

Altho, I must confess . . . one of the reasons I love to buy Primas instead of making them myself isn't necessarily just for the flowers themselves . . .

umm, yeah ..me (like I said )

just rough it up
( crunch it into a ball and then smooth it out. lots!)
and separate the layers,
like when you make faux suede...
and you can punch the flower before or after separating depending on your flower punch.

wetting flower and using markers is a cool way to color the petals,
either soak cs under the tap ...and marker over it-super quick
or draw on the flower dry: dark edge, and center or vein
... and then aquapaint it petal by petal ......easy quick blending.

as it dries, form the petals with a stylus
(as shown in that great blog. btw, tfs!)
I also use a sharpie marking pen, not for the ink but for the roundness of the pen's cap!
it makes a very nice shape for many kinds of petals.

I like the big 5 petal flower lately and the snowdrop in the center crunched upwards.
I am uploading-challenged,
so no pics sofar ...but I will work on it.

I'm so addicted to Primas but they are so expensive sometimes. I was on a board for a while that would swap them regularly so you only had to buy one bottle and get several colors back in the swap.

But....being able to make them yourself? And in any color, size, shape with the punches you already have on hand? Love it - saves $$$$! Thanks!!

I'd like to just add on that it was the February 18, 2008 post - went back to look for it and had to search for a bit (now I've got it bookmarked!)

Just in case anyone else has the same problem!

Don't sell your punches. I have found out in life that as soon as you get rid of something you already had, you will need it again before you know it and have to buy it or borrow it which I had to do all over again. Punches have many uses that we probably have not scratch the service for as yet. If you have the room to store them keep em.....
