FYI, I just noticed that Copic posted details on the certification class in the Seattle area for Wed. June 18th and possibly a second session on June 19th.
Check their site here for further details and an application. They're accepting applications starting Monday May 19th.
I attended their certification session in March and it was WELL worth the investment in time and money (and travel... it was 450 miles away). Included in the session fee are several markers that you get to take home, plus the unparalleled experience and enthusiasm of Marianne. So many great tips were shared. The airbrush system was there for us to play with, also.
Another Eugene attendee, Cambria, made two great posts about the training on her blog here and here. It was a blast!
 Oh Yes!! If you have a chance to go... GO... I didn't make the Eugene, OR one, but did make the Medford, OR one... It was well worth the trip... Marianne ROCKS!! So easy to learn from... If I can do it, anyone can...lol...lol If you are having trouble using your copics... This is the place to be!! Have Fun!!!
I don't see why you (or anyone else) couldn't go... If you are interested in learning about and using the Copic markers correctly and helping someone else use them, this class is for you...
The class is very informal, and yes it does say for teachers, etc... I would send in the application. They are giving this training so teachers, demos, store owners, etc., can use the Copics correctly, have fun with them, share and instruct other users what a great marker they are. The class is well worth the money. I am by no means a very good "colorer"...lol..lol and I felt so at home and learned a great deal... (what kind of paper, ink to use for me was the best...lol) (so, that's why that didn't work...) and not only did I learn, but now I can help out others with the Copics... (and yes, I even can apply what I learned to using my SU markers...)
They sent me the application yesterday - single page that seems pretty straightforward. It does ask to submit 3-5 examples of your artwork, so I need to figure out what to send. I'll let you know if I get in.
I just booked a business trip for my husband from June 14 to 19 to Seattle from Boston. I'll be joining him and this would be a great way to spend a day. I just requested an application for this Copic certification in Seattle and I hope I will be able to take this class.
If I don't get in the Seattle class, I will try to get in the Boston class in the Fall.
Thought I would post an update. I finally submitted my application over the weekend, along with pics of a couple of cards and a scrapbook layout I put together. I applied as a teacher since I do hold monthly workshops in my home.
I got an email back from Marianne this morning saying that they would be calling me to get my credit card info. And then shortly thereafter, got the call. So, I'm in for June 19th. I'm so stoked and can't wait.
Oh I am SO excited to go to this! I dont have a preference as to what day I attend so they are letting me know as it gets closer which day I will be attending.
I just love furthering eductaiton and this just makes me giddy!
