Magnet problem

Well, I did it. I got my two magnets for the MISTI stuck together.
Is there any way to get them apart?
Thank you for your help.

Slide, don't pull.

Heather Arsenault 09-28-2014 08:31 PM

Sliding is the way to go but you may need to brace the bottom magnet against something to slide the top one off. I wasn't strong enough to just slide them apart. I used the edge of the Simply Scored.

Be careful when separating the magnets. I pinched myself in 2 places and one of pinched areas took skin off. They are really STRONG!!! If you use something to pry them apart, remember don't use anything metal. I used my rubber jar opener and a plastic fork. Now I KNOW not let them get too close to each other.

Another one that slides them apart

I slide them apart, too, but just know that sliding them apart is hard to do, so be careful and be persistent.

And take the pinch warnings VERY seriously (ask me how I know...OUCH lol).

I am very careful now so that the magnets are far enough apart so that they don't SNAP together (and I do mean SNAP....).

Thank you for this! I got my 4 magnets stuck together, with skin from my palm in between them. OUCH! After I removed them from my hand, and the screaming stopped, I used some rubber jar openers to push them against the edge of my MS scoreboard to separate them, and left the magnets separated by the rubber. Two of them stuck together again when I wasn't looking (little rascals), but I showed them who's boss! These things are CRAZY strong!

Those magnets are possessed! They have a mind of their own and move on their own..LOL No matter how careful I am to keep them a safe distance apart I forget.

Know what you mean! When I hear that 'SNAP' sound - #+#%^ Please cover your ears-

I had two of those powerful things snap together on the tip of my finger - smarted and left a red mark a couple of days ago and is still there! They're not even safe for adults, so be sure to keep out of reach of children!

Heather, I totally agree! This is the easiest way I've found to separate them too.

I have found when my magnets get stuck together, that putting on a rubber glove gave me some traction to make them slide apart easier.

Got pinched again the other night-now have a blood blister on the left pointer finger!

I don't recommend doing this every time but I remove the black foam from the MISTI, pput the magnets that are attached in a corner then slide them apart. No need to go hunting for anything to help pry them apart.

I too keep my magnets in their 4 corners so they don't come together. Now it's not an issue nor a problem. Since I use a heavy cardstock, those magnets are a necessity for me and get used all the time!

no matter how careful I am, I sometimes forget that these are lethal weapons. two of them attacked my thumb. but it is worth it to use the MISTI. Yes, we are crazy....
