Default Quickutz Silhouette Question

How much does it cost for the digital design downloads each month? Is it a charge per each design or a certain dollar amount for a quantity?

Thank you.

Default Cost

The downloads are $3-5 depending on how complex. I got my SIL from QVC and it came with a $200 download card.

Other sites have them cheaper and, of course, wingdings are in the fonts.

Hi Kathryn,
Is that for each item? For instance a Christmas tree, is it $3-$5 for the single Christmas tree? Am I making any sense??

Default Trees

A christmas tree is $4 or so--yes it is just the tree-- BUT you can draw one (the interface is like the paint program on your computer) OR you can use a wingding OR you can import a clip art tree and trace it.

So it is only the complex shapes that you really need to buy.

Also, you can buy a CD with all the Christmas images and alphabets for $69.00. I think the price of a single downloadable design has gone down.

I'm torn between the new Cricut Expression and the Silhouette. Did you find the Silhouette difficult to learn? Any input is appreciated.

There is several differences between the two machines, but I prefer the Silhouette. You do have to follow the directions for it to work well, and it helps if you have a little computer savvy. They have a terrific support and lots of tips online. Be sure and sign up for the newsletter-they send tips and free downloads occasionally! At first, I was just using it to cut the silouette of an object, but now I am layering, doodling, and using it to cut other printed items. Hope this isn't TMI!

When you buy the downloads from quickkuts, Are they also saved on the computer so that you can use them again? Or is it a one time buy and use thing?

Thanks

Yes! You can use them over and over and size them from 1/8 inch to 81/2 X 11.

I llike the versitlity of the silhoutte because you can scan in your own images and do all sorts of other creative things, however if you are more of an instant gratification kind of gal I say go for the cricut. My SIL has one and have to admit it was fun and easy to use. It was really a nobrainer. Plus it is alot more portable-- no computer required.

I have a Silhouette and LOVE it. I am still learning the things it can do but I have been making progress.

I bought mine from QVC and got a $200 download card with it- which made it a GREAT buy. It also comes with 50 patterns and you can get many more from all kinds of places on the 'net, some of them free.

Each individual download that you buy is $3-5 from Quickutz. I like this better than the expensive Cricut cartridges because I only buy the exact piece I want.

Quickutz also makes CDs with 50 images and an alphabet. Each one is built around a theme- Christmas, summer, etc. These list at $69 at Quickutz, but can be purchased other places for much less.

Both the Cricut and the Silhouette have their advantages, but I am really glad that I got the Silhouette.

See my gallery for several cards that I have made in the last few days that I've made using the Silhouette.

Search yahoo groups for Wishblade. there are a lot of groups out there and some offer some really good tutorials. Most of the groups also share files. Also search GSD files on the web. Some are for sale and others are free.
