To protect embellishments you can run a piece of cardstock through a crimper. Then put it over the embellished side and face it towards the back of the envelope.

I cut a small square of bubble wrap (the small bubbles, not the big ones) and lay it over the embellishment , then follow procedure above.

I have used wide ribbon (like 2 inch wide) to make cards - wrap it around and add a sentiment on top - looks great!

Does anyone have the tutorial for making the Ribbon Blossom by Pam Basset (4hounds) ? Her blog is Indigo Studio by 4 Hounds. It's gorgeous. I've emailed her but no response. I know from reading her blog that she's had illness and death in her family so that may be the reason.

Thanks!

I just went to her blog to check it out - yes, she does beautiful work! She did offer an explanation that she posted yesterday. She said that she received many requests for this tutorial and is revamping the tutorial. But she also said that she was attacked when she posted the original tutorial. You know, people can sure get ugly IMHO!! So, for that reason she will revamp the tutorial, but only said that she will offer it via a different route.

Having problems with internet since yesterday so I can't send you the link but you can look up 4hounds in the members gallery and she gives you the link herself. Hope you have more chance this way.

Oh, I just thought of something I did once on a scrapbook page. I used a wide, smooth ribbon to make photo corners for a baby girl page. It turned out really cute. I just laid the ribbon on an angle across the corner of the photo, then used adhesive to attach it to the back of the photo.

I was wondering the same thing--plus is it extra postage?

Pax et bonum, Carol

Carol and Missy, please see posts 41 and 42 above. I normally place an extra piece of cardstock over the face of the card if I have bulky embelishments. I will put on extra postage just to make sure it's not returned back to me. Depending on the post office, some are fussier than others!

Most of the cards that I have to mail, though, I will try to keep embelishments as flat as possible and then extra postage is not needed. I will go hog wild on bows and embellies if I am presenting the card personally such as at weddings, showers or birthday parties.

I used bits of ribbon on this layout:

...and I like to use ribbon as a "tab" like in this one:

Here's one I made for a creative ribbon swap. I wove the ribbon over a piece of cardstock, then stamped on top.

Subscribing! I use ribbon on just about everything. If I have an empty corner that needs something, I make a bow and stick it there. Very interesting thread.
