Default Labelmakers, do you have one?

I am looking at getting a labelmaker. Just curious if anyone has one and what they think about it. I would like to be able to label folders, storage containers, embossing folders, etc. I am counting on you all to be the wealth of information you have been to me in the past! TIA

I have a Brother P-Touch and it works great. You can get them at Office Depot.

2nd the recommendation for the Brother P-Touch. The label cartridges might give you sticker shock at first, but there's a lot of label tape on each one.

I don't know if my Brother is a "P-touch" or not. It says "QL-570". It's right at my desk and works quite well. Every month when I get my birthday committee assignments, I just print out address labels and stick them on the envelope with the date I need to get the card in the box. I also use it to label music, folders, etc.

For those of you who have a Brother P-Touch, do you have a model number I could check out? I was definately looking at Brother P-Touch's but there are so many different models. Right now I am looking at the PT-1290

I label everything...embossing folders to drawers and shelves in my stamp room. I use the Dymo Letratag electronic labeler. I have two of them. The tape to use in this cute little labeler is only $5.97 for two rolls at Walmart or I buy it at Michaels with a coupon.
blessings.

I agree with you there. I had bought mine at Target years ago during an after school clearance sale. I also buy the rolls at Michaels with a coupon. Usually if I can not find something at Michaels with the coupon I end up picking up some rolls of labels and that way I always have them.

I own the Personal Dymo Letratag label maker. I like it. I can easily find the label tape at Walmart, Target, even Michaels (with a 40% off coupon). I use it to label all kinds of things.

When I was purchasing, I had a stricter budget. If at that time I had an unlimited budget, I would have bought the "Personal Label Maker Dymo LetraTag Plus" version because it is easier to use the keyboard

I have a Brother P-Touch and an old-fashioned manual Dymo, love them both.
Unfortunately getting replacement labels for the Brother is not easy here, I have to get them mail-order from the UK or Europe.
I keep my Spellbinders in CD cases mostly, so I label the spine with the sets, but on the front of the case I also list how many dies are in the set. Same with some unmounted sets from RubberNecker and Whippersnapper - I like to be able to count and check nothing is missing .

Sabrina, which PTouch do you have? The PT-1290 has 15 deco modes, which would be nice, but not sure if I really NEED that or not. It just makes decorative labels.

I have the P touch home and hobby PT-65 and it is great. I always order my tape from amazon when I'm placing an order for other stuff.

I looked yours up Diane and it looks like they don't make that one anymore. Darn. I would like a desktop model like that and not handheld. Just easier to use for me.

Before you choose which one you would like to have, do a search on the refills....some of them are very expensive..upwards of $10.00 for one roll. It is something that should be considered.
blessings.

Well, I did it. I bought the PT-1290 at Staples today! It looks so cool and all the deco modes and things had me really wanting it. The cartridges are expensive, Amber, but I don't think I will be labeling a ton of things, so hopefully it isn't a mistake. PLUS I think I can get them at Michaels with a coupon.... PLUS I got a $10 instant discount AND 15% off too! I just couldn't resist. AND it came with two tape cartridges!

I looked up the current models and the PT 70 is the one most similar to mine. It has some additional features like date stamping your labels that mine doesn't have, and the color and shape are a bit different, but otherwise the same. And it uses the same tape refills as the PT 65.
Brother International - P-touch Labeling Systems - PT-70

Here's the PT 65.
Brother PT-65 Label Maker w/Labels
I noticed that there's a few sellers really gouging on the 65 since it isn't being made any more. $66 for a $20 labeler? Give me a break!

Default Label maker

I love my label maker! It's a Lektra tag and I got it at WM. I have labeled all of my shoe boxes, plastic storage boxes in my pantry, student folders at school, all of my paper that is stored in the large page protectors. It' s a great tool! I have always bought my refills at WM, but where do you buy yours?
