Labeling tools to show ownership when used in groups
As I organize to go to classes, I realize that I need a way to identify that my tools are mine. I want to put something permanent on them that is not tacky looking. What do you use that stays on? Label maker? permanent marker? Engraving? Please share how you identify your materials when you are using them amonst others, who in many cases have the same thing.

I know from being a teacher for a very long time, that Sharpie does stay on pretty well. Thanks.

I use a label maker (because I'm @ [email protected] and don't like my handwriting).

Sharpies work great. Label maker doesn't always stick.

I use strips of bright blue tape. If I can't wrap tape around it, I use a blue Sharpie.

I use white labels in my label-maker and put my name on stuff, and anything I can't stick a label to, I put my initials on with sharpie. But mostly labels because it looks neater!

My initials in Sharpie marker for most things. For scissors, I tie a piece of ribbon around the handle.

I had a name stamp made for my DS so I could label his school things. It made sense to get my own name made into a stamp as well. I use permanent ink and stamp my name (I have terrible handwriting!).

I've done the above. I have also used ribbon to identify my things quickly at a glance. I tied a ribbon to my scissors, ruler (if it has a small whole), and anything else i can tie a ribbon around. Used a patterned ribbon for easy identification -- don't even have to pick up and look for a name on it. It's kind of putting ribbon on your luggage.
I took a Cuttlebug class and even tied a ribbon on the handle when I went to class.

At hostess club this week, someone had a charm on her scissors (kind of like a cell phone charm). She'd had it there for years!
I guess what you do depends on what your purpose is...quick recognition of your stuff (ribbon, tape, etc), or to "prove" it is yours (non-removable name).

There are photos of a similar idea for scissors charms on Lauri Ingram's blog: http://chickenicity.blogspot.com/200...-scissors

I use Silver Paint pen for the Dark items such as Punches. And then use Black Sharpie for everything else.
I often go to my friends house about 2 times a month and get together with my other Stamping and scrapping friends.
We use each others stuff. And our Hostess has all of her things marked too.
Cause we sometimes have things that are alike.

I don't label anything. I hate the way it looks and I'd rather replace something occasionally than to have to look at ugly labels or writing on all my tools.
Pretty sad, huh?
