Default What does your custom stamp for the back of cards say?

I'm thinking about getting a stamp with my name on it for the backs of my cards. I like the idea of the custom clear stamps that CTMH orders. The third option in their catty has an emblem to the left and words to the right. The only thing that doesn't look right to me is the wording isn't centered and is left justified. I'm also not feeling the love for their sample of "Hand stamped with Heart" on the first line. I thought I'd see what others use for wording. I was looking at the following for the first line and the second line would be my name, either just my first or both my first and last:

Created by
Hand stamped by
Hand stamped especially for you
Custom made by
Handmade by
Homemade by

My one concern is not all my cards are stamped but they are handmade. I also recall reading somewhere that "Handmade" and "Homemade" tend to have a negative connotation and it is perceived that "handmade/homemade" is inferior to store bought (or something similar to that line of thinking).

I'm probably over-analyzing this. Thanks in advance for your opinions.

I don't have a stamp yet, but I am thinking about one that has my blog listed so that they can see the "Story" behind their Unique piece of art.

Yep, this is what I did! I used the wording "Handmade by" and then my name. Then my blog below that.

I have several. My mom got me one with my first name on it in big print, then curved around the top and bottom of my name are:
From the mind of..certified stampoholic.

I also have one that says "if you think I'm cheap because I made this card then you've never bought a rubber stamp."

I also have a few "Hallmark" inspired stamps: Hallmark NOT! and Hallmark eat your heart out.

One of my favorites comes from my Aunt that says: "If you knew how long it took me to make this card, you would never throw it out"

I say have fun with them. And if someone thinks a handmade card is "inferior" then they don't deserve a card at all.

Maybe I'm just mean, but I think if someone is convinced that something handmade is inferior (generally because in their deluded little minds they think it makes it cheaper... LOL - How funny is that concept?!) then they don't deserve anything that I've taken the time to make. ;)

I'm thinking about getting a custom stamp too, so I'm interested to hear what others have on their stamps as well.

While not custom-made, I do have one that says, "Hand stamped because I can't draw!" and another that says, "It took several hours to make this card; act impressed!". Both are from Artful Legacy.

I print my logo onto the back of my card bases or if its a dark base I use a printed label. I do leave off my name and blog address and just use the cat image with "Cards & Crafts by Cat" under it. I'm not allowed to post a picture of my logo, but here is a picture of one of my cards with the logo.

I ordered my stamp from SU, I haven't received it yet, but my demo did it up the way I asked her to. It has Handmade, by, my name, and my phone number, she was able to center it all. I will let you know how it turned out when it gets here. I do currently have the one from CTMH and I didn't like that everything is all left justified either. I think that stamps for the backs of cards is a personal thing and should reflect your personality as much as it can. Good luck finding what you are looking for, and I don't think it hurts to have several different stamps.

I think I'm going to go with "Handcrafted by" for my first stamp. I liked some of the funny ones mentioned above as well but I'd only use them for people who share my sense of humour. I think a more generic one will do to start. Thanks for the input, everyone.

I love reading all your sayings! They're great!

When Siberianstamper sent me my first card, I noticed her signature mark, so I figured that was important. So, now, when I make a card I try to remember to add one. As a new stamper, I usually only make a card when I have someone in mind, so I handwrite: Made especially for You by B'Lou

Where do you buy the bling that is on your card, I am looking for some. I always put my name on the back of my cards when sending them out.

That is absolutely perfect! I have one with a list like in those credit card commercials something like:
Rubber Stamps = $3000.00
+ Card Stock = $2000.00
+ Ink = $2500
Handmade card from me = PRICELESS

Not sure the exact wording, but that's pretty close. I sign my name under that. But your stamp is even better!

I've bought my (2) personalized stamps from Third Coast Stamps in beautiful black rubber.

The first one is in Ambassador script, my name, in small letters. Just above is Handmade, and below, Original. The words are tucked into the swirls from my name.

I just ordered another one with my initials, and in a half-circle above them is "From the studio of Sandy Hoy" There is a star before the from and after my name.

I love some of the ideas you've come up with for other stamps though! Awesome!

I think it's nice to have a variety, because as you say, not all things are stamped. I have one really old SU stamp that has a pair of folk-arty silhouette hands and "Handcrafted" on it. It's simple and covers a multitude of items, whether cards, ornaments, whatever.

I do like having a lot, though, so I have "Created by," "Designed by," "Art by," etc. I think your choice of "Handcrafted" will do you just fine.

I have one that says my name with "Cricut Card Fairy" for those specific cards. Then my others say "Hand Crafted" (with a pair of hands), and one that says "Stamped just for you by_______", and one that is over 20 years old that says " A (my name) Creation".

And to add to the comment of Handcrafted VS Homemade: I think it's just a matter of preference, but I always say Handcrafted. I think homemade is the term of yesteryear. It depends on the person receiving the item too...I know which of my friends and family members appreciate all the work that goes into my cards. The ones that don't get a computer generated card. After all, it's the thought that counts, right?

My stamp came from my dear husband many years ago. I'm fairly slow to try new things and sometimes let my fear get in the way of a great adventure. My name is Kathy. He hand drew a cat (think halloween) and underneath it wrote Fraidy Kat Studio and had the stamp made and put it in my christmas stocking. It's has been one of my favorite gifts and also named my craft room Fraidy Kat Studio. My coworkers always look to see if the stamp is there and seem disappointed if I forget.
Have fun with it!

When I first started making cards, I found a little two-pack of stamps for $5 at Walmart of all places. One stamp said "Thank You", and the other said "Handmade By" with a tiny flower in the middle above the words.

That was over five years ago, and I still love and use that same little stamp. I sign my first name under it on the back of every card I make.

I like that it says "handmade" instead of "handstamped" so I can make little labels and tags for other things I make because I sew and crochet, too.

Here is a pic:

Default back of cards stamp

When Papertrey ink first started out, they would include a small back of card stamp with almost every set. I miss that!

Mine is circular with a fancy letter B in the centre, Fiona B round the top and Beehive Cards underneath: I have used FionaB or FionaBee on craft forums for about 10 years and it was because of wanting to keep that on a stamp that I came up with Beehive Cards. I bought the stamp from Paper Angel who always had a full page ad in Rubber Stamper magazine.

I have several small stamps I use for the back of my cards. I pick one that fits who I am sending it to. I use "Made In The USA" for many of them. I use "God Keeps His Promises", I use a sign of the Christian Fish and several other encouraging little 1-3 word sayings (from Verve Stamps). I then print my initials and the year I sent the card next to it. If the card is especially nice people are keeping them to frame etc. so the date is nice for their recollection.

Default Handmade vs Homemade

A long time ago I did read somewhere that homemade is exactly that - homemade, it doesn't have to be pro-quality but handmade is considered more artisan. I like handcrafted the best!

And don't worry you're not over-analyzing, I think it's worth putting in the effort to figure out what exactly you should've at the back of your card. After all it's your signature!

I like that it says "handmade" instead of "handstamped" so I can make little labels and tags for other things I make because I sew and crochet, too.

Here is a pic:
I like the simplicity of this but my signature and handwriting are awful. I'm a leftie with very poor penmanship but not as bad as some I've seen over the years LOL!

Default love to stamp on the backs of cards...

The Stamps of Life have a really cute back of card stamp set. One says, "I made this card just for you. {I expect you to keep it forever and ever!}. I also have one that says, "I made this card by hand. If you throw it away, those same hands will create a doll in your image and stick pins in it's butt." LOL! I use that one for Halloween cards. I also have "What did you expect, Hallmark?" as well as several "Handmade by:" "hand stamped by" "for you from me" etc.

Leslie, please reconsider signing your name on cards you make. You may not like your signature or penmanship - a lot of people feel that way about their handwriting. I read something a long time ago about handwritten journaling on scrapbook pages that has stayed with me.

Your handwriting is uniquely you, whether you like how it looks or not. Years from now, anyone who knows you and is close to you will have an emotional reaction to seeing it.

And not to be morbid, but I know this is true. I have cards and letters from my mother and grandmother who have been gone for years. When I look at their handwriting, it brings them back to me in a warm way.
