Are dye ink pads supposed to be hard?

Otay, *extremely* weirdo question but I just have to ask. I first started stamping over ten years ago, but I used a dye ink pad for the first time ever today. It was rock hard! It inked my stamp just fine, but it was really disconcerting to use! It is a Distress Ink pad, if that makes any difference. Thanks for your help!

Definately not soft and squishy like pigment or chalk pads...yep, they're hard, but they work just fine. It probably has something to do w/ the fact that dye ink isn't as thick as the others.

Yeah, my craft pads are squishy, so I guess the dye pads are hard! LOL

That's a relief to know! I knew that dye ink pads had felt and not foam, but I thought the felt would have *some* give to it. It felt like I was inking up on cardboard.

The Distress ink pads are more hard than even regular dye ink pads. They get the same results. If you are using Ranger ink pads, they feel more hard due to the shape I think.

Once you go hard you never go back...LOL!!! I never use pigment pads anymore.

Haw! I must admit, I find the dye ink pad inked up faster than my pigment pads (partially cos my pigment pads are like ten years old!), and it was nice to be able to immediately work with what I had just stamped.
