i need a little help with glitter

ok so i have tons and tons of glitter.. i LOVE glitter. my problem is that when i use my glitter it does not only stay on the glue. little flakes are scattered all over the card and it truly looks messy.

do you lovely stampers have any suggestions for me? if i could do something where glitter would not be left all over the card then id use it so much more often

i hope i explained my problem clearly lol if i didnt let me know. :)

TIA!

My biggest problem with embossing powders or Glitter is the clean up. I don't know if this will help you but when I use embossing powders or glitter I pour the powder or glitter into one of the larger SU! clam shell boxes then place my CS with what I want glittered stamped in Versamark in the box close the lid and shake side to side. Then tap the top and sides of the box to get most of the powder to the bottom of the box. Then open the box lift the CS with the image facing down over the box and tap the back of the CS. Close the lid and store the glitter or pwder in the box. HTH!

What are you using to adhere the glitter, just plain glue? etc

I gave up on glitter once I found Stickles. MUCH less messy--try it!!!

I now use Stampin Up Heat and Stick powder, it works like a charm, no more flaking glitter!

What you do is:

Stamp image or color in section with a versa fine marker
Heat it with a heat gun a little so it goes tacky
Sprinkle on glitter
Heat again to make it stick
And then the glitter does not budge!

This has made me use my glitter a lot more often.

I did a test on all different glues:
Tombow worked pretty well in keeping the glitter put
Pallette glue pad was no good
Those little glue pens were useless
Diamond Glaze was pretty good
Red sticky tape was good

But my fav is still Heat and Stick powder!

And I love sticlkles also!

I love Stickles, too, and have more than 20 of them. However, I don't really feel like it's a complete replacement for loose glitter. First of all it takes too long to dry. Second, while it's beautiful, it doesn't really hold a candle to Art Institute glitter.

I just use it and have fun. I get glitter everywhere. Myself, my husband, my three sons, our house. It's a problem I'm willing to deal with because I love the sparkle. I use a large, fluffy powder brush (make-up), to gently brush off strays after whatever glue I've used is dry.

You need to get some anti-static powder and brush it over the paper that you are putting the image on before you stamp/glue and glitter/emboss. It will make it so it's not such a mess.

The quickie glue pen works great for glitter, I use a lot of glitter on my cards and it always stays on!

The sticky cuts that Stampin' Up sells are great for glitter too. They're like big sheets of the double sided red sticky strip, and the glitter doesn't flake off! I think you can also find other shapes on the internet, but I'm not sure where.

How do you do that?? I have tried and tried with that pen (I use it to stick stuff I have cut from Cricut so I have a ton of them) but the glitter never never stays put! Do you use special glitter? Or seal it with something?

Thanks!

I'd agree that Stickles and loose glitter are different.
I find it hard to use the Quickie pen quick enough, so I usually use the Art Institute with a fine nib, or ordinary PVA applied with a darning needle. I also love using it on fine DS tape for borders, like this - http:////www.splitcoaststampers.com/...&ppuser=133118.
I lay some baking paper over it and rub it well, and then use a fine soft brush and that gets rid of most of the loose bits. The baking paper is good for working on too, the glitter doesn't seem to stick too much and it's easier to pour back into the jars.
