Default Enabler Alert!

I saw a commercial for this thing and finally bought one yesterday - the Crayola Cutter! It is advertised as being able to cut where your scissors can't - and it does!! I love the look of cutting images out and popping them up, but a lot of images are pretty intricate and difficult to cut out nicely. This "kid's toy" is awesome for helping with that problem! It does not use a blade, rather it has a needle point that punches up and down super fast and it basically perforates your image from the paper. You just trace your image slowly with the tool and you're able to pop it out of the paper - it is awesome!! The best part - it is only $20!! I got mine at Target in the office supply aisles - it was not in the toy section. :-D

I'm not sure..... I would not let them use it unsupervised - that point could definitely cause injury! I think younger kids might find it frustrating to apply pressure to the button and try to trace at the same time.

I agree with ksaeger, I would never let a child unsupervised with this "toy". I love cutting with it, it really does get where scissors can't. I really can't figure out why it is in with the toys, it is sharp and the blade is right there where a small child could easily cut themselves.

I got one last christmas. It does not break skin. I tried, lol. The "blade" stays inside the cutter and perforates the paper. THe slower you go, the more of a cut you get. Basically, the blade moves in and out of the cutter. When you are not cutting, it remains inside hence it is not exposed. I like it. Obviously, if a child is really little, I wouldn't give it to them, but my 4 yr old could handle it fine. You know, tell them to not poke their eyes with it, try to tattoo themselves, or use it on their skin. If they are old enough to understand that, they can use it safely.
