I can't find Glossy paper
I can't find the Glossy paper that you use with Ranger Alcohol inks. I have tried, Michaels, Hobby Lobby and Joanns and no one has it . SU stopped selling it . Where are you buying glossy paper ?
Thanks
Barbara

JoAnn's has Ranger glossy cardstock on sale: Glossy Cardstock 8.5''X11'' -White | Jo-Ann I've not seen any sold in my local JoAnn's store.
I'm curious if we'd have the same success with this:
Gloss Cover Stock
I do remember reading that photo paper is not a good substitute. Apparently, the alcohol causes the coating to turn sticky.

I read the reviews and questions and apparently it is not very good for Alcohol ink techniques like Tim Holtz does.
This is from the Amazon site. :
Has anyone tried using alcohol ink on this paper?
Answer: I've used alcohol ink on it, depending on the techniques you use it will work. It does dry faster on this paper than it would on the paper made for the inks, so there is less working time so to speak. But if you are just starting out with alcohol inks this is well with the price to play around and practice with, beca… see more

My local JoAnns doesn't stock glossy paper and shipping costs can be prohibitive. Office depot doesn't have it and it looks like Staples must have some but we have no Staples store with in 100 miles .
So frustrating. So much of the stuff we use is being discontinued .

I can vouch for the fact that regular glossy photo paper will not work. I bought some to try out, and the ink soaks in way too fast to be able to do any blending, whether you are using alcohol inks, or dye inks. You can get Ranger Glossy cardstock in a variety of sizes on Amazon.com.

I got my last pack at Michaels. It is Tim Holtz glossy and is in 4x6 sheets. You can use photo paper, but as others said, once the ink hits the paper you can't really move it around. This is photo paper

I have tried Ranger's but I prefer Local King's. It only comes in precut 4X6 sheets, but I really like it. Just my opinion. I order four packs at a time to economize on shipping and so I always have it in. It comes from Canada, but arrives pretty fast.
Photo paper - no, not good. I have some glossy brochure paper that is good for simple stamping, but if you're going to do anything more, it's too flimsy.

marcopaper.com has a good selection of glossy paper. I've used most of it & am very happy with the results. They also carry the brand that Lisa (Local King) uses. I've also found that Yupo paper is fantastic with alcohol inks. I use it with Ranger alcohol inks, Pinata (made by Jacquard), and most alcohol marker refills & get great results. But, check Marco's. Great customer service.

Barbara Jay, I use Kromekote Cover Glossy Cardstock, 10 pt., C1S. Alcohol inks are absolutely gorgeous on this paper. Marco's Paper has it; 50 sheets, 8 1/2" X 11", $11.50 + shipping.

Is glossy photo paper good for anything besides printing photos? I ended up with a ton of it, and don't print photos. I remember reading about a technique where you put drops of ink in a bowl of water and swoosh your paper through it? I think? I don't even know the name of the technique. But would that work on glossy photo paper?

Thanks for ALL the suggestions . I really appreciate them. It looks like there are several choices for glossy paper.
Joanns on sale and Marco's paper look like the best prices .
Thanks again
Barbara

Rather than use glossy paper, I've started using mixed media. It doesn't allow the ink to penetrate/dry as quickly as WC paper, but it's a great medium. I've never been ever to do anything on glossy paper.
