A few more arrived last week... I'm at 52. I love them. The browns are my favorite.

I have NONE! I don't have any Prismacolors either. I do have all the SU markers, however. I love the way Copics look, but they are way too expensive...even for me!

OK.... After seeing this thread, I wanted to color. I just colored a few images I received through the PIF image thread a few weeks ago. Now I just need to make cards with them.... I need to stop hoarding them.

I don't have any. I have Marvy brush markers but they are getting old and will need to be replaced. Right now I have been just watching and learning all there is to know about the Copics and may one day feel the need to get them.

Also I just recently discovered the use of Odorless Mineral Spirits with pencils. But i don't have the Prisma pencils either!

I'd love to have more but I only recently got my SU markersand I just cannot justify the money being spent on them, so... for now I use the Julie Buhler "no copics... no problem" tutoral here:

The key is watercolor paper.

Thanks for mentioning my tutorial - This is what I came up with, so I didn't feel the need to spend the big bucks. And honestly, I have NO intention of getting anymore. I do have the C1 grey, since I like it for shadows, but that is the only one!!

Ok, don't feel bad! I just bought the SU markers to replace my drying Tombows LOL! I do have some Nestabilities, however. I am trying to resist the Copics as I just don't need to sink more money into stamping right now.

I have them ALL (Sketch). I enable myself! The variety of colors is marvelous. They look so pretty all lined up. Still learning how to use them though.

Even I don't have all 322. I probably have about 150 different colors, but I have a lot of duplicates- especially in the skin colors since I usually draw comics. I must say that one of my favorite sequences is the BG72, BG75, and BG78 - which is part of the reason I pushed for those colors to be in Hobby Lobby

Hi Marianne <waving>

A little bird sent me the link to this thread...I think she wanted me to profess publically how many of these I have <cough> acquired over the last few months... I was pleased to see that several of you are in the over 100 club with me. I love these markers...They color wonderfully and they are oh-so-pretty on my shelf... LOL!

Well Lori, you'd better go get them!! They're a nice muted blue-green. Great for water or clothes, or just about anything.

I joined Gina K's Copic club. It's a painless way to collect them all, six each month.

Default 80++ copics, and on order....

I have the Copic airbrush system and an air compressor coming the end of this week! I bought the basic set that uses the cans of compressed air, but DH suggested I go ahead and get the rest of it and the air compressor so I don't have to keep buying the cans of air. Gotta love the guy! They are my easter gifts! The airbrush systems is so great, you can coordinate all your embellishments this way. I have colored acrylic flowers, buttons, primas, and the SU hodgepodge hardware so far!

Great poll!

I realize that I am not the only person in the world to own no Copic markers, though I have been secretly yearning for some.

I have one at the moment. I think I would like to get the Spica glitter pens first and then I might get a few Copis to play with.

I just don't know what colors I should get to start with!

Starting your collection is really hard because there are soooo many colors. I would suggest you think of something that you would color all the time, that's pretty simple, like purple flowers. Get two purples one that's light and one that's a middle purple (not too dark or it will be more challenging to blend) Then get two greens for the leaves, again one that's light and one that's middle. Practice coloring with those for a while, then add to your collection, 2 shades at a time.

The colors are coded with letters and numbers (BV00, BV04, BV0. The letters tell you what color family, the numbers tell you how gray or vibrant they are, and the last digit tells how light or dark. So a good light blue-violet would be the BV00, a good middle color would be the BV04. Usually I try to keep only a 2 or 3 digit difference on the last number.

If you build your collection in this way then you'll always know what to blend with what for a good smooth image. Good luck.

I joined Gina K's Copic Club too!
I figured it would be a pretty affordable way to build my collection, but after getting my first 6 (set C) in the mail I knew I couldn't wait 6 months to finish the set and I ended up buying sets A & B when eclecticpaperie.com had them on sale.
So much for pacing myself so it was more affordable, LOL!

For some reason I've not yet had the urge to buy them. It is probably because I own a lot of Prismacolor ones and I don't use them too much. Also the price is a factor.

I still don't have any. Not because I don't want--even *yearn*--for them, but because I am lousy at coloring! I have the SU markers, Prisma pencils, the watercolor crayons, all the craft and classic inks with aquapainters and blender pens--and I *still* don't know enough about shading and perspective to color anything to my satisfaction. So, as much as I would love to buy the Copics, I've gotta wait till I get better at coloring. I know it's a matter of practice, which I don't currently have the time or patience to do. While my baby is now 3 and doesn't demand as much of my time, my oldest 3 are teenagers. LOL And I spend more time on SCS than I do learning to color!

I have been so tempted by GinaK's marker club! But I also know that I am a collector, and have to have *all* of any particular set. So, probably best that I don't begin for awhile yet.

I guess if I skipped Convention this year, I could afford them, right? But I'm afraid a certain couple of SCSers would beat me up. LOL

Ooooh, I just ((((Heart)))) my copics! Yup, in over 100 club but I must say I have used every one of them.
I have made strips of the cardstock I use to color (Simply Smooth that you can find at Cornish Heritage Farms )and colored a stripe of each and labeled it. I keep these for reference when I am color matching to DP or to a project....this TOTALLY saves me time in searching for just the right shade.
I have used my markers (A LOT) and the quality of the nibs I cannot say enough about....
Can you tell I love my markers.....

I've been buying them one at a time with 40% off coupons. Only have a few. Unfortunately ownership does not guarantee success. Those of you who have over 100 probably have some artistic talent. I'm going to keep plugging along and maybe I'll produce something that looks better than the pictures my 5 year old grandson draws.

How cool! Do you mind sharing what air compressor you got and where from? I've been seriously debating the airbrush kit and a real compressor, but I'm not sure what to get...

As for Copics, I recently got the full set of Ciaos (144) and am slowly realizing that I'd like to get some sketch colors to fill the gaps.

And as for talent, I'm not very talented at coloring and used to really hate it, especially with markers, but seriously, I love coloring with my Copics! Someone on SCS said they're not magic, but I think they might be for me! I think what makes them stand out over water-based markers is that you can keep going over and over the same area and the paper doesn't pill up. That was so frustrating for me when trying to blend with my SU! markers. My coloring may not look real, but I think it looks nice, which is all I'm going for, not being a real artist!

I am looking at Copic and wondering if there is any chart or way to "match" Copic colors with SU! Colors.

Thanks!

If you go to the all that scraps website, www.allthatscraps.com they have a set of ciao markers to match with the SU colors.

I bought that set first but then quickly sold it because you don't have enough of all the shades to blend properly. I then bought the whole she-bang and have never been happier!

I bought the case of 144 for $199 a few months back, printed off a list of the markers that match SU colors, and found that it listed several markers in the case I bought. So, now I just need to find that place that was selling them for 2.95 each and fill in the rest.

Smile Where to buy compressor
How cool! Do you mind sharing what air compressor you got and where from? I've been seriously debating the airbrush kit and a real compressor, but I'm not sure what to get...

I got my compressor, a Sparmax mini (the brand shown on the Copic website with their airbrush) for $136.00 from BearAir, in MA. www.bearair.com Super fast shipping. They do not sell the Copic airbrush. I got that from In2Art.com out of Florida (chosen for their price and location since I am on the east coast too), I ordered Tues. and it arrived today (there was an issue with a backordered item otherwise I would've had it yesterday too), the compressor was ordered Tues. and arrived yesterday, Thur. I would recommend www.carpediemstore.com as they sell both, a little higher priced on the compressor, but you could get both items from them. I just found out about them after I had placed my orders and have no experience with them. Beware that if you buy another brand of compressor, you may also need an adapter. The Sparmax works fine out of the box. Also be sure you check the PSI capability on the compressor you buy to make sure it will work with the Copic system.

Default Where to buy compressor....

FYI - I checked shipping @ carpediemstore.com as I have not ordered from them, and it is high, as someone else mentioned.
Depending on where you are, it may be cheaper to order the compressor from www.bearair.com and the airbrush from www.in2art.com (plus you can get the markers from them too!) Both companies provide great service and communication.

I have 48 Copics and I'd love to have MANY more. I absolutely adore them! (I got mine from Ellen Hutson's store, btw, and I recommend her highly for a safe, stress-free, and enjoyable purchasing experience ).
