How do you put holes in Chipboard to make Coaster Boxes?

Will a hand held punch work? I have coasters on order.

Hello if you get the medium weight- a hand held punch will work!

You can use a hand held punch...but the new Bind it all machine...works great...perfectly lined up and spaced holes...punches 6 holes at one time...

Cropadile, japanese hole punch, book binding punch, etc

Also, how do you attach the bottom?

I use crystal effects to glue mine. You could also use E6000 or any strong glue. hth

I saw on SCS a while ago that someone had punched 2 holes in each corner of the bottom coaster and had threaded ribbon through instead of gluing the botom on. The person said the box could then be disassembled and stored flat. Another option for you to consider!

That is a great idea. If anyone knows where there is a picture of this, I would sure be interested!

I have used both a hand held punch and the crop-a-dile, the hand held was hard to punch through with, but it does go through the crop-a-dile was a breeze not to mention you can set the depth on the crop-a-dile

Scroll about way down the page and Amy has a picture of it from the bottom too so you can see exactly what she means when she describes it.

I used my Silent Setter and it worked great. But maybe it depends on the weight of the coasters?

Instructions and photos for coaster with holes in bottom are on my blog:

That looks so much easier than the glue thing. Glue and I really don't get along too well. Glad to see this alternative.

I use the Crop-a-dile. That baby punches through everything!
