Hodgepodge Hardware Box
Has anyone successfully covered the hodgepodge hardware box as a gift box?
I found one sample in the gallery but I have some questions as I try to do it myself. How did you cover the "BLUE" rolled edge at the bottom of the box? The edge of the lid is silver so it occurred to me to make it silver but what do I paint it with??? I am "cheap" and do not want to throw these little boxes away. Help!!! Colleen Horner |
I haven't done it myself, but I would think either sanding the blue paint off the rolled edge would reveal the silver underneath. Or, you could use a silver marker to cover it. Krylon makes gold and silver leafing pens, and Sharpie has silver markers available. HTH!

I tried a silver Galaxy marker and after drying 24 hours it would still rub off. I had not thought of sanding.
Thanks for the ideas. |
I recently uploaded one that I made for my sister. As far as the blue rolled edge, I did nothing w/ it, because my color scheme matched the box. I'm wondering, though, if you could use either permanent marker or alcohol inks to change the color, or even spray paint for metal? As others have suggested, sanding might work, too.
