HELP!! with ?? on Perfect Pearls vs. Pearl Ex ??

Hi All...could someone please explain (briefly) to me the difference in using Perfect Pearls and/or Pearl Ex for making your own glimmer mist sprays.

I've seen all kinds of videos and am confused if they are indeed the same thing, just different brands and/or product...

I remember reading/seeing ( I think ?? ) that the Perfect Pearls can be added to WATER and there is no binder ? needed...I'm assuming to hold the color? Dunno....

I've also seen where someone used Hair Spray (vs. water) and I think it was using Pearl Ex (vs. Perfect Pearls)..UGH!! I'm SO confused!! hahaha

I have both products, but don't want to waste them trying a method that won't work, as they are not cheap...(or at least where I got mine)...just want a simple method of making the glimmer mists that is not TOO costly. I have NOT tried the already made Tattered Angels product, but am not sure what they run (cost wise) a bottle ? so if I find them on sale, I wouldn't know if it was a good deal or not.

HOPE to hear back..sorry for lengthy post...take care & thanking you in advance for any help, links, suggestions...

Cya...Jo

Perfect Pearls already have a binder in them, meaning they will stick to paper without you having to add a binder. Pearl Ex does not, so you have to use a binder (like gum arabic) to make it stay stuck.

Yep, what Kikikaren said. Reinker, water and a little scoop of Perfect Pearls in a mister and you have your own glimmer mist. The PPearls on their own won't give you very much colour so the reinker introduces that for you. The binder resin in there makes it permanent so it won't rub off your project after you spray (it's the glimmer rather than the colour that means you need a fixative if you're using Pearl Ex). The resin will also bind to warm embossing powder or UTEE and also polymer clay so it's permanent after baking - I love my Perfect Pearls!

Thank You!! Does it matter what kind of reinker you use...meaning can you use S-Up reinkers? along with the T.Holtz types? like the Distress Inks AND the Alcohol Inks?
( I have a couple colors in each of these products at home )

Will try not to ask any more questions...

Bah! Ask all the questions you want! I'm busy learning here.

You want dye reinkers so your SU Classic should be fine and yes, Distress Inks are perfect (especially because the colours stay true in water, you won't get any funny colour changes going on). Alcohol inks won't mix with water so stick with the others and you're good to go.

Have fun!

I got the most wonderful deal on Perfect Pearls on Ebay!! I won a bid for 3 sets of PP containing 4 pots each, along with the Pad, and markers for $22!! So in total, I got 12 pots of PP, the pad, and markers!! I was a very Happy Camper!!
