Help me alter letters!

Well, for once I'm ahead. I'm working on christmas presents. For my mother, who decorates like crazy, I'm making the word "JOY" please, help me figure out how to alter these!

I don't know what to put on them!

The 'O' has the words to Joy to the World written in a sparkle pen, and I think it gives it a neat affect- because you can only read it from some angles, others it just glitters. Should I do that on all the letters? I haven't glossed the J and the Y- that makes reading the words slightly harder- should I leave them just papery (not really my preference) or gloss them all? (I'd redo the O if the others won't be glossy).

I also haven't covered the sides of the J and the Y yet- those will be in green. The sides of the O are in red.

Would you add ribbon? Flowers? Hardware? Where would you put it?

I have no idea what to do... help me!

Skit - I'd make them all glossy but only have the words on the green letter. They look really pretty! I think your Mom will love her gift!

I'd make them all glossy. Yes, add ribbon with maybe jingle bells hanging from the ribbon ends.

Love the ideas already given....I think they are beautiful just as they are..but a jingle bell and a ribbon here or there would be beautiful. They are really cute, Skit!

I love the added depth and contrast that the small lines of writing add to the green paper with the large, swirl-style holly leaves. Myself, I would consider writing the lyrics on all the letters and finishing them all with Mod Podge or satin Royal Coat. Then you could add ribbon or hardware to the top left and/or bottom right of the word to give the eyes a place to start and/or finish. There's not a lot of imagery in the song Joy to the World that is easy to incorporate (a crown? a horn?) but I don't know -- a sprig of holly on top of the J or on the left side under the cross-stroke? A cluster of bells somewhere along the right side of the Y?

If you have an idea of where your mother might display the word, try setting your letters in a similar location to confirm that you like the results when they are set against the scale of objects they will be displayed against.

I'm no artist or designer tho; please upload the finished project when you're done so we can all be inspired by you!

If you were thinking about adding bells, I would cluster three small bells together and add a large loop of ribbon. You could then adhere them inside the "O" at the top. You could embellish with a bow where you adhere the bells in the "O"...I hope this makes sense!
