I don't know... but I did purchase a "homestyle" sewing machine for paper crafting from Zellars for 75.00. Mind you I haven't used it yet, but it looks like it will do a great job. Lots of different stitches and not too complicated.
I'm just afraid of new tools. Weird, I know...
not knowing how to sew probably has something to do with my reluctance to touch the machine!

I thought to have a look at Walmart to see what they carry. I have a very expensive sewing machine but I'm reluctant to use it for papercrafts and want something little I can leave out all the time. I've called a local Janome dealer and she said she'd contact the Vancouver headoffice and make some inquiries for me ... Thanks for your reply...
My understanding is that Canadian stampers who own the mini are having them imported from the US (usually have them sent to an American stamping friend who then reships it to them in Canada) Others are buying them in the States and bringing them home so I'm fairly sure you CANNOT purchase them in Canada.
I think you are right ... I'm heading to Montana in February and may be able to find one then and bring it back. Wouldn't a Canadian Distributor make a Killing!!
In the summer I checked at the Creative Craft/Sewing fest in Toronto and indeed it appears that you cannot get that machine in Canada. One of the Janome reps didn't even know what I was talking about!
I personally just have a Brother machine from Walmart and it was less than $70. Works great ..... even on fabric (not that I use it for that LOL!)
I just saw an ad in a canadian scrapbook mag, and Janome has a Canadian site: www.janome.ca -they have many canadian retailers but they are not scrapbook stores- they are sewing stores. Check them out to see if there is a store near you....
I just visited the Janome.ca site ... the machine they market to Canadian scrappers is much "more" of a machine then I am looking for...computerized, 30 stitches, lots of features...I don't need/want this as I have an expensive, machine that does all that already. I'm looking for lightweight, small and portable that I can use in my tiny crafting room and for workshops. I tried contacting them via their site but the feature would not work ... oh well, not lifethreatening, just frustrating.
I bought a small repair sewing machine from Canadian Tire. The only thing is that it doesn't have zigzag, but it was only $20 (on sale 1/2 off) and it works great for sewing on paper. I have even used it to hem jeans. I don't want to pull out my big sewing machine either so this thing was the perfect solution.

I thought the ad was for the mini, but now that I've looked again it doesn't actually say that. Strange. you'd think all the products would be available.
