How do they keep shipping so reasonable? It's hard to believe. Shipping was $10.35. Which is what 7.99 in British pounds converts to according to today's rates.
It almost makes me nervous. I'm tempted to email them and ask how they do it.
Maybe it's going to take a month to arrive. If so, that's okay.
Well they apparently changed it from 7.50, to 7.50 plus a 10.00 surcharge at some point today. Mine was just 7.50 UK - $9.71 US. (See earlier math posts.)
Wow - we like the same stamping stuff, and now I see we have the same music tastes, too. I was thinking about that song when I posted.
Oh neat! LOL Love that song. : ) Now I'll have that and other Queen songs buzzing through my brain today.
I was going to post a vid of the entire song but thought maybe some people wouldn't want to listen to a bunch of lyrics to get to the chorus or see him dancing around in his undershirt. ; )
Mine was the same as yours. I guess we got in under the wire. Feel a little guilty.

Is it shipped via postal service or Fed Ex or what? Probably nobody knows. I can just see someone stealing it off my porch and saying "what is this thing?"
I emailed them and offered to pay the surcharge. Had it been on there from the get-go I might have hesitated to buy, but now that I have I will pay it if they want me to.

$7.50 (GBP) shipping for me too. I guess they saw the mad rush from the US and decided to make an adjustment. Although I would have been okay with $17.50 at this point

If they decide to add it when it's shipped, I will still be okay with it. I guess that's the price to pay for being impatient.
Apologies if this has been posted elsewhere. Looks like it is from Tonic. Has some comments about modifications that those who have ordered from U.K. might be interested in. Here is the paste.
I just saw this on Tonic's FB page:
Stamp Platform Update:
June 7, 2017
Tonic would like to give you an update on the situation regarding the new Model 1707e Tim Holtz Stamping Platform. Since the last announcement, we the team at Tonic have been working very hard to minimize the delay and impact this has had on the supply of the product whilst ensuring we can release a product that we can continue to supply in the USA. We would like to take this opportunity to apologize again for the delay and ask for your continued support and patience while we try to get the products into stock and shipped out to you all.
We have been working to modify the product for the release to ensure we do not infringe any existing patents. We hope you will agree when you see the revised Model 1707e that the changes we have made to the design do not detract from the look or function of the product and most people will not notice any difference from the original. Even though we maintain our previous product (which we did not distribute) did not infringe the granted patent of My Sweet Petunia (MSP), these differences have been made to provide further clarity in the situation so we can provide our retail partners clear guidance on the sale of the product.
As we move to catch up with the demand for the product we will be releasing the incoming shipments on a first come first served basis based with our retail partners on when we received the orders. We will be confirming the expected delivery date to each of our retailers within the next 7 days. The first shipments we expect to be dispatched on the week of 09 July with the second delivery to be on the week of 16 July. We are working to improve this wherever possible; however, we want to provide a clear and realistic route to completion. We also want to be realistic that the product will be entering the country during the holiday period which may involve additional small delays. These dates are when we will receive product into our warehouse in California so there may be a few more days to get the product to the partners and then onto the consumers.
We would like to thank all our retailers and their consumers for their ongoing support for Tonic Studios USA Inc. and the support from the team at Tim Holtz LLC. We will make a further announcement if the situation changes; however at this time we will be dealing directly with the retailers so they can pass on the relevant delivery information to their consumers.
If you are an end consumer and have specific questions on delivery, please contact your retailer while we send out updates. Please allow a few days before doing so while we filter the information to them.
If you have any questions for Tonic Studios directly please contact directly on [email protected]
Mary,
Thanks for that info. Very interesting! Definitely even more curious now, what the modifications are going to look like . . .
As I mentioned, I never pre-ordered from anywhere, so I bet I'd have a tough time getting a US version positioner, even if there are no July shipping delays. So I'm hoping my UK version will get here in good time lol.
I may end up with two of them. Well, then I can do a comparison. ;)!

Same here about the hesitating, though at 17.50 pounds it's still lower than elsewhere.
I had emailed them about shipping time, so figured I'd bring up the extra 10 pounds when they responded. If they were a big box store I wouldn't care, but being a family business...
And what modifications could there be that would move them even further enfringement but that most people wouldn't notice?! Most people would notice changes in color or shape, right? Maybe the hinges?
Hope Tonic is as determined as they sound. Does this mean they settled? If I were reading the press I might decide to come to some agreement given the blowback from buyers who are going to order this product even if they have to go to Mars. I'm one of those people. What say you legal experts?
Beth that's why U.K. might be my choice. What did they take away? I doubt that they added a feature.
If the average bear wouldn't notice (not that we are average, haha), then assuming it wouldn't be an addition or subtraction. They told one of my LSS managers the packaging would be the same, so it can't be size, right?
Name? lol Extra piece for lining up. Adjustable edges. Hinges without plastic around them. Un-round magnets!
So many features are different already, and it had passed muster with Tonic's patent attorneys, so what's left?
A friend of a friend of mine living in the Netherlands says that they are sold out now where they are and the pre-orders for more have the new product number. Wonder which one the U.K. Will be selling? Current in stock model I guess.
Congrats on your platform. All my Misti corner magnets popped out...I glued them back in with a strong clear adhesive and now use them other side down in my MIsti. So far so good.
I'll have to try and glue them back in...red tape didn't work.
I think she must have that wrong, as they are on sale in the UK. Guessing she hasn't fully understood whats happening, so isn't taking pre-orders. You could always suggest she contacts Tonic, and asks them what the situation is.
Maybe she orders from the U.S? Or is just nervous?
I had an interesting email conversation with a UK shop owner. Even if she shipped to the U.S., she wouldn't ship platforms because she's concerned about ruthlessness that could eventually target the UK. She doesn't carry MSP products due to wholesale practices and a video run-in involving her design team.
Lawsuits can have a chilling effect even on those not directly involved.
Wholesale practices on the part of MSP, I assume? And ruthlessness targeting the UK, I suppose that means a lawsuit there as well? Although, if Tonic has remedied this with a revised version that rendered the lawsuit inapplicable, and if Tonic intends to ultimately manufacture only that version - and why would they not, why manufacture two versions if the revised one is as good as the original? - then I can't think what she fears.
Maybe the video run-in, whatever it was, was enough to make her wash her hands of MSP regardless.

I know. I was wondering if she feared one if too many platforms started flowing from there to here.

I just got an email from Craft World explaining the extra 10 and asking for payment, or offering to cancel the order. (Noooo!) lol I said of course, fine. I had a 20% off coupon from them that I did not use and wondered if that might make up some difference, but it's not worth the few extra $ at this point. I'm just glad they'll ship to the U.S. and that I figured out how to make a sign on my tablet.

I just received that same email. I told them to please send and I will pay the additional cost. They also mentioned that they would send it tracked, so I can keep an eye on when it finally hits my doorstep.

I also got the email. However, I did get charged the 10 already (for a shipping/delivery charge of 17.50), so I replied w a question on how much the extra charge would be. I wasn't clear if --from my email-- the total would be 19 or an additional 19. Because that's quite a difference.
Does anyone know much about Sir Stamps Alot? I got this total when I was pricing and am not sure if I checked the right pricing option. This is my first time ordering from the UK so I am kinda lost.
Buteo it's 19 on top of the 7.50. She wrote a longish note explaining it and it made sense. Ordinarily I price compare but since this company comes recommended I just went with it. I don't have any experience with U.K. ordering. I'm taking their word for it.

I haven't purchased from them but I just read their shipping policy. The way I'm reading it is that after you complete your purchase you will get an e-mailed invoice for additional postage for the international shipping, if any (and they will factor in the shipping amount you've already paid):
- On receipt of payment we will pick and weigh your order so that the postage can be calculated.
- We will send a paypal invoice to your email address for any additional postage costs.
- If you have already been automatically charged postage by the website then this will be taken into consideration when calculating the extra postage.
Please let us know if you were charged additional shipping.
