Default chalk pads: full size, cats eyes, or petal points

what's your opinion on these?

Is it worth it to buy the full size pads ($5) or are the cats eyes okay ($2) or do you prefer them in the petal points?

Kimberly

I have the petal points and love them! I paid $15 for the box, and it has 9 colors. If I were to go out and buy the chalk pads I'd pay atleast $4.50 for each pad. :( I figured that with the petal points I was getting more for my money.

I have bought a bunch of Cat's Eyes, partly because I wasn't sure if I would like them, and partly because at my LSS, they were a little cheaper than the petal points. Now that I have them, I know I'd love the full pads, but they seem to be working fine so far for me, but I figure I'll use them up and then I'll get the large ones.

I like the cats eyes because
1) they're cheaper and my stamping $ goes farther
2) they're easier to store than the big pads or the bulky petal point cases
3) they are small enough to get into small places on stamps. You can't do that with the big pads.

They're easily re-inked, too.

Just my opinions

Default chalk inks

I love my regular size pads - never use the petal points I have, my cats eyes - mostly unused. Big pads are easier except for background stamps - then I like little ones.

Do you have a Hobby Lobby near you? If so, and if you can wait until they have their next 50% off sale on stamp pads...I bought 8 of the full size pads for I think $2.50 each, about 2 or 3 weeks ago. And I'm having LOTS of fun with them; I love the chalky look. The full-sized pads are easier for certain stamps (like the larger flower in Paint Prints), especially when you want to stamp quite a few of them on the page. But, if you're not as impatient as I am...the smaller cats eyes would probably work great too, and you could buy more colors with the $$.

I've been using the full size pads that I've acquired gradually when the
craft stores in my area have inkpads @ half off. This way I've been able
to get the colors I like without spending too many $$$ & winding up with
colors from the petal points that I wasn't crazy about. (although I know
lots of people love the petal points) I've also wondered about the cat's
eye size pads, again for the issue of $$$.

I have all 3 sizes and the Petal Points are my favorite. I just like the size and the little handle on the bottom when you pull them out. I don't know why, but for pigment inks I like the smaller pads better.

michaels has the ink at 25% off but I'd rather get them at 50% obviously ;)

Just taunt us all who don't have this... Just hearing about hobby lobby makes me JEALOUS. We have silly old crafters warehouse, who never seems to have a sale.

I have had all three of these formats from clearsnap and I have to say I like the petal point the least. Reasons? 1) the foam has fallen off of every petal and one point or another with little to no provocation. 2) It's all on the same pad and my daughter got ahold of it and began "inking" a stamp and now my yellow has a bunch of dark green on it and I am frustrated. I know that you can create cool spectrum looks with this pad, but I just don't like it.

If you go to clearsnap.com, they also sell them in a strip style sectrum pad. I've had these before also and I've had better luck than with petal pads as far as falling off. I've never had a cat eye come apart, although be careful not to let it sit in the sun because I have had the foam begin to disintegrate for this reason on a cat eye.

As far as whether to go with large size or not, you should maybe try a few and see if you really like them. I find that the 2 small cat eye chalk I have doesn't stamp distinctly. You stamp and it seems to swell or spread a bit on the paper, although it does dry instantly and it is fade resistant for scrapbooking.

Oh, by the way, clear snap is not the only company who makes chalk ink. Stewart Corp also makes a chalk ink, as well as a nifty palette hybrid pad. I haven't tried these out, but I have a customer who loves them. If you aren't committed to getting the petal pads from stampin up, you might also investigate these products and see if they are better or worse than the ones made by clear snap.

Anyone out there tried these products: either the hybrid pad or the chalk ink pad by stewart corp? I know that The Angel Company sells both of these as well as Brilliance Pad and Versacraft Pad.
