Default November Paper Pumpkin - not loving it

Ok, finally subscribed to SU Paper Pumpkin a few months back based on raves about how fun they are and how the kits can be made up in unlimited alternate ways. The first one I got, this was certainly true. I opted out of the next two because the themes didn’t excite me.Which leads me to the November PAper Pumpkin kit. Gingerbread sounded like a fun theme, so I decided to go with it. It arrived yesterday and all I can say is, it’s a dud for me.
The kit was specifically designed for making Christmas/holiday gift cards. Ugh. I don’t do gift cards.
I’m trying to figure out how to make fun cards with the parts and pieces (cutting apart, etc), but I have come up with zero ideas. Even the stamp set that came with the kit is leaving me uninspired.
My creative mojo is not kicking in with this kit. The only thing I’ve thought to do is cut apart the preprinted houses and make a garland. Pretty lame idea, but it’s all I’ve come up with.

If you’ve seen any neat idea for making this November Gingerbread Paper Pumpkin kit into something other than gift cards, would you please share it with me? I’m having buyers remorse and wishing I had used $22 more wisely!

I agree about Paper Pumpkin, for me they're either great or just meh.  Now I only get a couple a year, usually in the spring when I like the themes better.  If you haven't already checked out YouTube I've started seeing alternative ideas for the November kit, so you should hopefully find something there.  Good luck!

Did you see Lori's tutorial for the gingerbread village garland?

Gingerbread Garland Tutorials at Splitcoaststampers

You could probably turn those houses into this garland...

I will take your advice about what time of year to consider PP.  The one kit I got that I liked was an late spring kit and it was was wonderful!

When I checked YouTube there was only one video showing unpacking the kit.  I will keep checking to see if anyone comes up with some brilliant ideas.

PS Last night after posting my original question here, I decided to get brutal with one of the cute gift card envelopes (they are lined with a fun coral design).  I chopped it in half, creating 2 little envelopes.  My plan is to fill them with diecut flowers or ferns...might make good Valentines cards.

Chelsey Christensen spends a week on her blog each month showing alternative ideas for the Paper Pumpkin kits and they are beautiful ideas!  She has a YouTube channel, too.

Thanks for the link.  She is the one I watched do the unboxing of the kit.  (And yes, she is very talented and fun to watch, as well!)
I will definitely watch her upcoming video showing what she did with the contents.

After I read your post about this kit, I looked it up and my first thought was to cut the gingerbread houses up and use them on card fronts.  You could also punch holes on the sides and thread ribbon or twine through. That way, someone can hang it on a tree as an ornament. How about tucking a mini candy cane inside, so that it peeks over the top? The little gift card envelopes could work for spring and summer cards too, if you tuck a stamped tag or sentiment card inside them...and then pop on a card front.
I see what you mean about the kit not being very versatile though, especially the stamps. However, I do love that little gingerbread house stamp in the set, and you could use that with anything.
I've never subscribed to PP, but I have received a kit as a gift, and two partial kits that were passed on to me. The Christmas kits were the least useful for me, because they were so specific. One kit had little envelopes with clear fronts to slip a big cookie into. Um, I don't ever gift one cookie to anyone at Christmas, and haven't yet figured out anything else to do with these.

Oooh, I just came upon this video on how to use the November Gingerbread kit in different ways. She always has so many ideas for every PP kit. Sorry that I don't know how to embed the actual link, but hopefully you can copy and paste.

Karen,
Thanks for sharing the fun ideas you came up with to use the Gingerbread PP in different ways. I printed your comment so I can give them a try as best I can.
And thank you, as well, for posting the url for Tami’s video. I was able to copy/paste and it took me right to it.  I learned a LOT watching her assemble the kit as intended. I am so clueless!!!!  I looked at the stamp set and thought several of the stamps were just flourishes, not realizing they had been specially designed to fit like a puzzle around the doorway and fill the front of the punch out cards!
I was delighted to see how cute they looked, but I was kicking myself because I mailed a bunch of these naked (no stamping!) to a friend to assemble and use.  They were homely and plain as can be!!!!   She is going to bust a gut laughing when she finds out that didn’t have a clue what the gingerbread houses were supposed to look like.   It’s definitely 2020 at my house!

Again, thanks for scouting out ideas for me to look at, I really appreciate it!

You're welcome Susy. I was happy to find that video, with all the different projects. I always find so many ideas and get a lot of information from other crafters, so was glad to be able to help out for a change.
When I first saw that stamp set, I thought it was a really strange one as well...and couldn't figure out what all those designs were for. After seeing it demonstrated, I got it, haha! Maybe you can ask your friend to mail back the plain white "frosting" fronts to you so you can stamp them and send them back to her. If you held back some of them though, you can at least embellish your own. You only need to stamp the plain flat fronts, since those are adhered over the gingerbread part. Then your friend can sit and wonder how you made your versions so fancy!
I love watching Tami's videos because she always has at least 2-3 more ways to use each PP kit, besides the original one. Seeing her put them together always make much more sense than the printed instructions. If you continue to subscribe to PP, you can check out Tami's videos each month to see what else she makes.
I don't usually buy kits, because I either tend to just hoard them, or I make one or two projects and then run out of ideas (or steam). Hope you can get enough inspiration to use up this gingerbread one and not feel like you wasted your money. I know how THAT feels...ugh.

I have the kit and haven't done anything, yet.  Tami always does a great job explaining and having ideas. There is usually a PP blog hop with Kelly Atchison, A Stamp Above dot com, and there are always great ideas.  I get an e-mail from Stampin Up with many ideas for the PP kit, so be on the lookout for that.  I saw a video where the presenter made a box where she placed candy in it using two of the gingerbread pieces.  I pick and choose which kits I want and usually opt for the card ones.  I really do not make a lot of tags or send many gift cards, so I will hopefully find other ideas.

Thanks for the link and mentioning it was part of a blog hop. I watched Kelly’s video earlier and somehow missed it was a blog hop.  It was fun to see the different ideas and I am much more impressed with this PP than I was a week ago.
I made one card using part of one of the envelopes in the kit and it it turned out great.  Totally NOT Christmas.  When I get it uploaded to my gallery I will come back with a link.
Also made up 7 of the gift card holders and sent to a friend who gives out many gift cards at Christmas.  I think she will like them!
