Default You say to-may-to, I say to-mah-to

Copic markers - do you pronounce it like topic? or with a long "o"? Thx!

I've always pronounced them like Topic. A long O doesn't make sense to me with the way it's spelled. *shrug*

This reminds me of the Cricut and grosgrain debates. I pronounce it like topic as well, but found this on Wikpedia:

"As noted above, the Japanese spelling and pronunciation of the word "Copic" is pronounced as ko-pi-kku.

Although the pronunciation of "Copic" among English speakers is debatable and pronounced differently by different people, often "caw pic" or "coh pic," it can be inferred from the Japanese derivative "ko-pi-kku" that "coh pic" (such as the co in "coat" or "cope") is the correct pronunciation."

I bought a DVD on how to use them directly from copicmarker.com, their homepage. (Well, actually, their shopping cart sent me to oregonartsales.com, who fulfilled the order). In the DVD, it is pronounced with a long O.

PS: Just in case you might be thinking of getting the DVD, don't waste your money on it. There are many better tutorials here at SCS and at blogs like Ellen Hutson, etc.
