Okay.....there are too many cutting/embossing systems! And now the Epic is coming on the market. I own none of them. It has always been a "maybe someday" thought in my head. But now, with the intro pricing on the Epic, I'm giving serious thought to which one would really be best. Here are the main points I need to consider;
1. Cost effective; must have the most bang for the buck.
2. Longevity; I won't be replacing, or adding another, for several years, at least.
3. Compatibility/flexibility; which one will grow with the market?
4. SPACE!! I have as limited space as I do funds....5 people, durable medical equipment, 1300 square feet - LOL!
5. Likely be using it as much for embossing as for cutting.
Opinions....opinion.....opinions! Thanks so much everyone!
I've not seen this before. I have the Sissix Big Kick and I think it is the most versatile I know of as it can handle Quick-Kutz and all other dies including Spellbinders. Have you seen a demo using other dies? It looks like a good piece of equipment. Maybe they came out with it as competition for Sissix and Cuttlebug and it would be worth it.
I'm thinking the same thing - too many machines and it just makes me want to not be interested!
I have a Cuttlebug and mostly use it with Nestabilities and embossing folders. So far that has been enough for me.
Then I saw a review of the Silhouette cutting machine that you plug into your computer ~ that looked cool!
Now I see the Epic - which for some reason I keep thinking of as the Eclipse.
Well, lemme tell ya, I wish one of these machines would truly *eclipse* all the rest in my mind LOL! At some point, I think I might be interested but it is all a bit overwhelming when you aren't familiar with them.
I have most of the same issues as you do, OP, and I'd be interested in opinions, too.

I don't have the Epic, but I do have the Big Kick
1. I got it for $50 using a 50% coupon at Joann. I went back over the course of the next week to get all the extra stuff at 50% off. I paid under $70 for everything, all the mats, etc that I bought at the time.
2. I use my Big Kick every single day that I craft and have for 2.5 years now. It still works great with every die available on the home cutting market.
4. It does have a bigger footprint than the Cuttlebug. I hear you about all the DME stuff! LOL. Mine sits on top of a scrap cabinet, I sit on my barstool to use it and it works for me.
5. I emboss all the time with it and it works beautifully! It cuts nice and clean. I own Quickutz dies, Cuttlebug dies, a ton of Spellbinders dies, Accucut dies, along with a ton of Sizzix ones. Every single die works great in my Big Kick, and all the diffeent types of texture plates (including fiskars) and embossing folders work wonderfully in my Big Kick
Dittoing everything Nikki said. (I feel like a stalker. I think I've dittoed a couple of her posts lately. LOL)
About the Epic, it is another ~6" machine, so if you have a CB/BS/BK, then you have a machine that is almost identical in what it can do to the Epic.
(The CB's drawback is that it cannot take the cutting plates for the BigZ XL dies. It can take the dies, but not the cutting plates. I've read that the Epic can take all dies, but I've not read of anyone trying the BigZ XL dies and the BigZ XL cutting plates. If the Epic is really only 6" wide, the cutting plates will NOT fit. They are 6 1/8".)
Now, there is rumor of a 12" Epic. THAT machine interests me. I'm looking forward to reading more about it. I'd love to see what dies & embossing folders are coming out in that size.
