I ordered a couple stazon pads and they have just arrived. I am itching to start a project but I read on the bottom of the pad that they use a special cleaner.
I don't want to wait another week and a half. Is there something I can use in the meantime? Or if I leave the stamps to be cleaned when the cleaner does arrive will it permanently hurt my stamps? The project uses only 2 stamps.

I really don't like using the Stazon cleaner, I find that it makes more of a mess than it's worth. I use my SU cleaner or the CTMH cleaner they both do the job for me. If you are using clear stamps then you can just run them under water and wash with a mild soap. I wouldn't go to the expense or wait of getting the Stazon cleaner.
I just use whatever I have handy at the time. A regular stamp clearner usually suffices. The Staz-on will stain some rubber though so don't fret if your stamps still aren't "clean" after cleaning them. So long as no more ink comes off you're good to go.
I just use normal clenaer (SU brand) but did find that the rubber was still SLIGHTLY stained. I got some stazon and months later they came up like brand new.
SO go ahead and stmap away!
The main thing is to clean the stamp right away with whatever cleaner you have. The ink usually comes right off. If not, like Metalcharm said, you can clean it with StazOn cleaner at a later date. I don't find the StazOn cleaner to be messy at all. My bottle has a foam applicator on the top, so I just rub it on the stamp then clean it the regular way on my Stampin' Scrub.
I make my own cleaner : 1-part simple green, 2-parts water and a few drops of glycerin. I think it works great!
I SECOND what Jeannie uses!! and I use this 'recipe' for most ALL of my stamp cleaning!! I have had the Stazon ink(s) stain some of my rubber stamps as well, but I agree that as long as you clean them with some of the ideas given, you shouldn't have a problem.
And I bet IF you order the stazon cleaner, you will be able to clean them up even a little more IF need be. I keep a bottle on hand, specifically for my Stazon inks, but in a pinch...I think ALL the great suggestions would be fine and have used them myself

Thank you all for the ideas. I even have glycerin on hand so I can pick up some simple green and mix this up for the weekend. This is great. I wanted to get started soooo bad. Maybe I will have an acetate/tissue project to put into my gallery come Monday.

I use Ultra Clean and it has worked just great for me even with older Stazon stains.
I second this cleaner. It is a miracle worker. I have bought some very badly stained stamps on Ebay and Ultra Clean has cleaned them up like they were new.
It's a stamp cleaner made by Stewart Superior. They also make the Palette line of inks. I got my first bottle from Archiver's and then bought the large refill bottle from Papertrey Ink.

The dry erase board cleaner, which you can get at Office Depot or Staples works great on staz-on. You might also find it at a large Wal-Mart Supercenter. It's in a spray bottle and very handy to use.
