Question EEEEKKKK! who knows this Copic answer...

As a new Copic owner, I've been keeping close tabs on the I Like Markers blog by expert Marianne. And now I have a BIG question based on a her entry today...

"Some thick cardstocks have a secret clay coating, so inks won't make it through the paper. Some clay coated papers leave a slight residue on your marker tip that isn't good, so try to avoid clay coated papers."

However, she doesn't say what papers have clay coating ~ so how do we know? I mean EEEKKKKK!!! I don't want to ruin these babies (I know I can replace the tips, but still...)

Sounds like grungeboard to me. Think its a Tim Holtz product.

Papers described as "glossy", "krome kote" and "matte coat", very often have a clay coating.

Check the product packaging to be sure, but, the above is a general rule of thumb for identifying clay coated papers.

Thanks, Julie!

I really appreciate your response! Thankfully, I don't use any of that type of paper to stamp on ~ although I think I've heard of people using their copics on Glossy papers.
I wonder if shimmer papers have clay on them as well... Anyone know what holds the shimmer on? (I'm no paper expert so don't laugh if that's a silly ??)
