Default ? for double sided tape users

So I was just reading a thread and so many people said they use double sided tape. Do you use this instead of the SU Snail adhesive or do you use them both, just depending on the project?

I haven't been totally happy with the SNAIL and it is kind of expensive. Just wondering on the double sided tape? Does it start to come apart after the card has been together for a while (weeks, etc)?

I use the double sided tape instead of SNAIL. I have no problems with it coming apart later, as I have had with the SNAIL. It is definitely my favorite adhesive.

I use the double sided tape for projects involving any cardstock that I run through my Cuttlebug embossing folders. I found the SNAIL would pull too much on the embossed cs and weaken it OR I'd have to push too hard w/the SNAIL & kind of smashing the embossing. The double sided tape sticks well to the emobssed cs & adheres to the rest of the project too. I love it! I bought a dispenser & several rolls of the tape, it always sits right in front of me when I work.

Currently I use Tombow Multi Mono glue... love it.

For layering thinner patterned paper I use either Scotch double sided or Mono Adhesive. I tend to grap for Mono, since it's easy. I never had any problem with any of my layers falling off when I use Scotch. I've never used SU Snail so I can't compare.

I use Double sided for all my cards. I have others laying around, but I find that double sided works the best for me.

Scotch double sided for me too - it sticks very well and sticks things for a very long time - I have had problems with snail adhesives coming away after a week or so but never had this with my double sided tape

I'm with Jovi on the Tombow Multi Mono. I think it was Emily G. who posted about loving it a long time ago. I found it cheap and bought a box of ten bottles for $20. I still have three bottles left....it lasts for-ev-ah! It smells really good, too.

I use double sided scotch tape for practically everything, and the occassional glue dot.
The tape holds forever! I've gotten multiple cards in the mail that were snailed and they come apart!

I'm so glad to see this thread. I asked about adhesives a few days ago.....I also have had problems with the SU snail. My customers said that their cards kept falling apart. I switched to the Creative Memories tape runner and it works better. Just the other day I was doing a gift bag and the tape runner tape was just not holding. I asked about it and a person or 2 told me to try double sided tape. So far so good!! it is holding together. I do want to know though that if by "dipenser" people mean like a tape runner thing or if it's just the scotch thing that you refil and pull the tape off...hopefully that makes sense. Also - a few people told me about an ATG Gun....I have a link to it and I can get it if you want. The dispenser is kind of pricey...like $50ish, but I bet in the long run it'll save you. Everyone had good things to say about it!

I was a total Scotch Double Sided Tape User, but I've been converted to the dark side... I now LOVE my ATG. I got mine from framingsupplies.com

I keep my DST as a back up adhesive, but the ATG is quicker for me to use and the refills are actually cheaper than the DST.

I use 3M Double sided Tape for my cards. I like it better than I do the snail runners, and can find it at SAM'S Club at a good price. for 6 rolls. I have a desk top dispenser for my tape and this works great for me.

I haven't had a card fall apart yet and I've been using the DS tape for over 2 years now.

Where do you buy it for this price? I am running low - it is my adhesive of preference. I think I purchased my current supply at scrapbookpal.com

I hate snail, and am trying to use up my supply, but even my customers at classes are not reaching for it. It is convenient, but that's not good enough for me. I LOVE hermafix, but I save it for special projects because the refills are so expensive. I use Scotch double-sided tape, and love it!

Hmmmm, Dorothy, it was seriously over a year ago. It wasn't a scrapbook place, though, it was an office supply type store. I googled it and found it. Here is the place Emily G. references in her blog. Hope that helps ya.

I love double sided tape when using cuttlebug layers and also dp. It just seems to hold better. Nothing is more frustrating than making a really pretty card and having the layers come loose. I do use snail and scotch tacky adhesive as well. But it depends on the project which adhesive I use. HTH.

I’m with Laura………double sided tape ALL the way. I became a SU
demonstrator in 1996 and was one for 5 years. I still have cards from
back then & they are STILL adhered.  I have tried soooooooo many
others that I couldn’t possibly count. Back to Scotch double sided tape.
NOW, that said…….I tried the cheaper (at Wal Mart I think) and it is
NOT as good as Scotch. Just doesn’t do the job.

Funny you should be talking about adhesives. I got a card today &
pulled it out of the envelope, thinking “why in the world would someone
send me a card with a brown layer & then a gold one on top of it?” Well,
after looking in the envy again………they didn’t. They had used the glue
stick and it fell apart. Now I learned this lesson in 1996………glue stick
DOES NOT adhere cs well………especially if it’s textured. USE double
stick tape. Glue stick is good for adding glitter but not much else. It
just doesn’t work. I learned my lesson the year ALL of my Christmas cards
fell apart. LOL Well, I can laugh now but I was near tears back then. I
like Mono adhesive but it’s expensive & this is MUCH faster. JMO

I use Scotch quick-dry tacky adhesive. It gives you a couple of seconds to adjust.

At our recent US and Canadian convention, we announced an exciting marketing venture with 3M's Scotch stationery products division. Beginning this January, anywhere around the world where you see a 3M stationery product sold--places like The Warehouse, K-Mart, and Office Products Department--you'll see Stampin' Up! artwork.

Stampin' Up!'s projects will be featured on the front of the package with text crediting Stampin' Up! that invites people to visit our web site where they can find more fabulous crafting ideas.

So, why would we want our name on a competitor's adhesive products when we have our own?

We asked ourselves that same question, and determined the increased exposure Stampin' Up! gains by reaching more, new customers far outweighs what we might lose by overprotecting our sales.

As Scotch's customers visit our web site for great craft ideas, we'll direct them to you so you can introduce them to our award-winning products as well as invite them to host a workshop.

We are thrilled to share our creative ideas with Scotch customers around the world, and to be able to share these new customer leads with you

I use double sided scotch tape all the time and love it. I do use glue dots for ribbon and sometimes textured paper (like cuttlebugged backgrounds).

Okay ***STUPID QUESTION ALTER***
When you say scotch double sided tape--do you mean the stuff that comes in the green box and you put in a tape dispenser like a teacher might use? Or do you mean something else? or even what is like what you wrap presents with? KWIM? I have often thought using this was a good idea, but didn't know for sure.

Mono Multi! Love the smell. I used double stick tape for years and yes it does hold forever (especially if you tape all the way around) But now I use Mono most of the time and every once in a while go back to the Scotch. I have a desk dispenser (like the one you use for regular Scotch tape)

I do sometimes have issues with getting the glue on my fingers but I keep a wet hand towel next to me to wipe my hands, and it only happens when I glue small stuff

Mine comes in a small yellow box, with black plaid patterns on it. It comes in packs of two, and each pack has 500 inches in it.

I scanned the box, the roll that comes in the box, and the dispenser that I bought separately (comes with tape too - I just show it empty here to show that you don't have to throw it away - just buy the rolls, instead of the roll and the dispenser).

I also use it to wrap presents with, but I only use a minuscule amount to make it easy for the recipient to unwrap (also to save money).

Wow I cannot believe how many of you use that Scotch double sided tape. I used to use it when I first started paper crafting, but I have always hated the stuff. I generally use my ATG for all things...can't beat that hold.

And recently I bought some double sided tape (like what they use in England) that comes on large rolls and has a liner. Very nice, and just as affordable as my ATG.

adhesive transfer tape...and the dispenser is a large yellow or red gun. It holds large rolls of double sided adhesive. It was mainly used in the museum and framing industry, but now loads of paper crafters have embraced it. I personally think it is the best adhesive out there. Scotch makes the most popular brand.

I am still in shock over you guys using that scotch double sided tape. It is such a pain to even get off the dispenser. And it is not that economical when you compare it to other double sided tapes you can get in the framing supply stores. Just plain old shocked.

I get the "sticky" double side tape with a liner from this online store. You get 55 yards of 1/4" tape for only $4.25. It holds very well and I find it easy to use. It does not come with a dispenser.

I've used double sided tape for many years. I purchase a roll of 72 yards from the man who makes trophies for our car club. It has a backing so it is great to put on the back of your projects and then assemble them later by just peeling off the backing. I hold the roll with my knees and cut with scissors. Sounds awkward but I've done it this way so long that it is quite fast for me! I cut about 20 pieces lining them up on my fingers and then put them on the back of whatever I am working on. It takes an act of God to get it off the cardstock. I have NEVER had anything come apart. It also is wonderful because I can use any length I want. It is particularly good for putting ribbons on CS or altered tins. The best part is that it is only $10 a roll.
