Does this exist? Smooth white water color paper?

All the water color paper I have here is an off white cream color and it has a slight texture. Is there such a thing as smooth white water color paper?

If so where?

You can probably find "whiter" watercolor paper... but the texture is there to absorb the "watercolor" or ink. It's what makes it "watercolor paper."

Cold press w/c paper tends to have the roughest texture. Arches brand is a little smoother. If you can find Hot Press w/c paper, it is the smoothest of all. It's usually harder to find and a little more costly, but it is smoother because of the hot press process.

I found some really smooth watercolor paper in, of all places, Wal Mart. I rarely go there and we were looking for a cheap filing cabinet but I can never resist office supplies. Strolling down the paper aisle (or close to it) I saw watercolor paper - Canson Aquarelle 90 lb. in packs of 15 sheets for 1.97. I bought two. I haven't tried it out yet but I couldn't believe how smooth it looks.

This has come up on the forum before and somebody did point up a source for a true white, smooth watercolour paper - I think it's made by Fabriano. It's pricey though as it's a specialist supply and is aimed at people who do things like floral miniatures in watercolour.

As others have said, watercolour paper comes in different ways - typically cold press, "not" and hot press. Hot press is smoothest - it will take even a very detailed stamp, no problem (this is a card made with a detailed stamp from the Saturday Evening Post line and is done on 140lb hot press paper: watercolour lions).
