Do you think the cost of Copics

will ever go down? Like a few years from now?

I'm doubtful it would significantly as it is an artist grade product.

dougnat 06-20-2009 09:58 AM

nope I don't. no real reason behind that but just my thoughts.

No - if anything I would bet that the price would go UP in a few years not down (inflation/rising costs etc etc).

And as RiverIsis said they're an artist grade product (stampers have just taken them up in the past 2-3 years or so) and I just highly doubt the price will drop on them.

All that to say though there are some retailers that sell them with very little markup so that people can get them at a little cheaper than the standard retail price. It's just a matter of finding which ones and checking the shipping costs and whatnot.

Thanks! I just ordered my first 22 (to match PTI colors of course!).
I have all of the Neopiko markers, so this way I'll be able to gradually collect Copics, without worrying about missing colors.

Like everyone else said, "No."

The only products I've ever seen go DOWN in price after a few years are electronic devices, i.e. big screen TVs, smartphones (i.e. the iPhone), other type devices.

Generally speaking, the first few years the prices on these items are high due to the manufacturer's need to cover the R & D that went into them. Basically, 1st generation buyers that pay those prices are the ones that are funding the R & D costs. The price usually drops when 2nd and subsequent generations come out, and those of us that couldn't afford to be first/get the first generation, tend to be able to buy at more affordable prices.

Artist supplies are not the same kinda beast. ;)

not a chance!! xx jo xx

I don't think they'll go down either. In fact, they've gone up here. If you buy them open stock, they've gone from 5.99 to 6.50.

Another "no" here. They've been around long before stampers discovered them en masse.

My3LittleMonkeys 06-20-2009 10:15 PM

I agree. And in the 3 years I have lived here in Japan, they have not changed in price in at all.

So what I can see here, (everyone's opinion) buy, Buy, BUY NOW, before the price goes up more. LOL, what an excuse, hee heee.

It is true! They've been around in Japan for over 25 years. Now they have become something stamper's and other crafters want, and they are artist grade markers. They are only going to go up - I've already seen that over the past year. Glad I've got a LOT already!!!
