For financial reasons I purchased 3 colour families of spots rather than buying the full size pads. I've had them for a year now and am happy that I bought them as it allowed me to have so many colour choices at once. (well, over a three month period) It also encouraged me to increase the variety of cardstock colours I purchased as I had ink to match them all. I've only just purchased some reinkers for 3 of my spots (the ones I use the most) so I might buy the big pads in those three colours but don't feel the need to obtain every large pad. I agree that the spots are a little tricky to use on BG stamps but I don't regret my purchase at all.

Thank you all for your input. I still do not know what I am going to do. I have a stamp pad and now that I see how large they are I'm not sure I want to store them. But I don't want to invest in spots and be frustrated by their size.

Here is my new question: do the markers truly match the ink pads? Maybe I'll get markers and then the full size pads in the colors I like.

This poll is interesting. I was thinking about the spots, but now I don't know.

I just bought 12 spots and I'm not sure about them. I use a lot of acrylic stamps and they don't work on the stamps, so I'm disappointed in that. I bought the classic ones and they seem kind of dry, are they suppose to be that way?
I wish I would have just bought the markers. I think these spots are going to go to waste

I ordered the spots first. Then when I find a spot that I am using a lot I order the large pad. I am thinking now about getting the pigment spots. I just don't know if I would use them.

Craft SU! inks are better than Classic with acrylic stamps. Classic ink is too liquid and does't adhere well to the acrylic.

Personnaly, I think that when you tried the pads you don't want to hear about spots, in any brand. Now I buy only pads. I recently bought two tear drops of Brilliance ink because my LSS didn't carry the big pads, and I hate them... I just ordered the pads online. OK tear drops and spots are cheaper, they are great when you don't stamp a lot, or you are not sure you will like to stamp. Or as a beginner when you have too much stuff to buy at the same time and you can't afford a lot of pads but want a lot of colors.
But if you already have plenty of stuff to play with, then I would recommend buying less colors at a time, but buying pads. Or with SU!, I recommend buying markers first. They are a little more expensive than the spots, but they are really nice to have anyway and that way you can try the colors and buy only pads in the colors you have.
